Never Give Up!
Subtitled: Projectile Stop.
Strategy & Tactic for safe handling of a firearm in a dwelling…
I best catch you folks up.
One of my lady friends I assisted with just had to have this section of Oak tree that had been hit by lightening, and was being cut up. She made it clear a certain part of this tree was to be “used” and to make the cuts “straight” and “do chainsaws have finer cutting blades?”
It measures fixed Modified Choke barrel on an 1100 or 28” in American Standard terms in diameter and height…”undressed”.
Why 28”, because that it the barrel on her gun at the time and not in the mood to get the Skeet barrel out of her gun case is why.
I was bribed to haul this Oak “section” where I was also bribed into drilling dead center, into top and bottom a hole for “this eyebolt thingy I bought at a garage sale and wondered what I would ever do with it, but it was only a nickel”.
Trust me, this thing is dead center.
I learn she has removed the bark, smoothed and sanded. I would have paid good money to have been there the night she hoisted this thing up in her garage in her bathrobe and the bathrobe got in the way and…
“I had my gloves and boots with no socks still on…”
Did you know Cherry Wood Stain gets soaked up quite a bit on an Oak Section? I did, as I have refinished solid oak furniture. This is what she had from doing a similar project and the Satin Polyurethane finish to go over it.
Pressure is bad enough shooting a 28 gauge shell, drilling holes into this Oak section now stained, finish out and all to accommodate Fiocchi 28 gauge bases cut off the hull, cleaned, polished with Happich Semichrome Polish to be inserted to fit is another thing.
Top and Bottom of course.
That was me wrapping this thing in beach towels, two towels I might add, and ever so carefully getting this heavy thing into the kitchen from garage. She did not have to say “don’t scratch it” because 1) I understand refinishing “furniture” and 2) she had that look that said it better than words.
Once inside I get to roll, and she lays down beach towels. The dog looks inside from outside and does that “Oh boy “ look , and starts rolling on the ground, yes his tongue was out and he had that look of laughing himself silly. He did this a few times, then I am pretty sure he was telling the neighbor’s dog thru the Privacy fence what all was going on.
Of course there was a “perfect spot” for this thing that matches bedroom furniture, and it was not one inch “that way” or “this way” it was “right there where I said the first time”.
Oh that was just getting it onto the steel coaster with wheels. Seems she found a heavy steel one with nice wheels like used for heavy plants, except this one was used for some kind of machine.
Trust me, this thing is clean, and has been repainted to match a border of which I cannot pronounce the name of color, pattern or anything. All I know it is some kind of special green.
I’ll admit this is a really nice piece of functional furniture for making sure a “projectile” has a safe backstop.
So, she is carry concealed and removes holster, to remove gun. She just stands there with muzzle safe…
“We have to go to the store right now” and puts holster and with gun still in- back on.
That was me….
