It just sounds to me like she needs a little more explanation of the difference between "rude" and "firm." She can smile and say, "No, I'm sorry, but you can't come in."

Great job, though. Thanks for raising her right; you're doing the world a favor.
 
A lot of good stuff on this thread. My daughter is not far from potentially being in those situations. I hope she, and my wife and I can do as well as all of you did.
 
You do have a very special daughter indeed. As a father of two boys (ages 3 and 4) the thought of something similar happening makes me cringe. As has already been said don't bother with the "what if",that will only trouble you. It sounds like you are doing an outstanding job raising that little girl, I am also teaching my children to be courteous.It's refreshing that at east one other father is. The world seems to be going away from teaching children to respect others. Give her a pat on the back, she did great.
 
I have an almost 4 year old little girl....thanks for the timely reminder to always think about this type of stuff and to gently develop the basic drills with them. Your little one did great.
