New 1911s With Gorgeous, Deep Blueing - Who Makes 'Em?

Most of what I see is parkerized, stainless or some other type of finish that is very functional but leaves me wanting for something more. Regretfully, I passed up an early '70s blued Colt that was absolutely beautiful last year and I can't get it out of my mind. So, what is available in new production 1911s that have a deep blue finish - preferably without a huge billboard on the slide? Is there something out there or am I out of luck?

Oh, and I'm not rich, so something in a production gun and not the Wilsons, Baers, etc.

I hear ya. I drool every time I run across this image posted by Rondog on this thread a couple years ago. This is easily the best blueing I've ever seen on a 1911. Saying it's gorgeous is an understatement.

Thankfully I have no immediate plans for combat, but a good looking gun for the range would sure be nice.

Sadly, good blueing takes lots of man hours for the polishing/blueing. That means it's gonna cost enough to not be financially viable on lower end, production guns. Your best bet would probably be to buy a parkerized carbon steel springfield or other quality baseline gun and then shoot the everlovin' bejezus outta it and then send it to a custom shop for a professional polished blue.

Colts 100th gun is "royal blue". Two models one all limped out the other similar to the repros

The Gander Mountain store closest to my house had a TALO edition Colt. The finish was a beautiful deep royal blue. The gun was about $1400. It's been sitting there for quite some time. Course, I haven't been home in a few months. I'll have to see if it's still there when I go on R&R.

Fortunately for me as well.....I am on tacticool stand down and can have some nice looking pistols.......unlike Full Metal Jacket who apparently must be 100% tactically tactifool at ALL times ............Oh, darn....now I have to tie my tactical sholelaces.

On the budget side of things, the newer Colt 1991 NRM 1911s have a decently nice blued finish. The Colt 1918 reproduction 1911 that a friend of mine use to have had a nice deep black oxide finish that really caught my eye. I don't know if that would be considered "blued", but it was very appealing on the classic lines of the 1918.

The TALO edition blued 1911s are nice as well, but so is the price on them. I would not want the TALO as a range gun though.

That blued 1911 is beautiful but for some reason I love a parkerized 1911.
