New .22lr pistol

Here is another nice pistol and great shooting attaboy.

I think Ruger must have a deal with the aftermarket suppliers where they get a cut from the things they make to fix the crappy triggers they equip the MK III and MK IV guns with. It only cost $95 for the Volquartson kit when I did my MK IV and that included free shipping but that was before the so called pandemic. I was very surprised when I bought a nice used S&W 22a and found the factory trigger was almost the equal of the Volquartsons I put in my Rugers. If everyone else can do it why can't Ruger? Their single action revolvers used to have great triggers and it is simple to make the newer ones about equal and their 1911 is nice. I have only shot one of their DA revolvers ever but it was pretty good while the last two MK series are not even up to ho-hum quality.

That's a great pistol at a great price and nice shooting too. My wife never liked shooting until I bought us a Buckmark Stainless Camper and she loves that pistol which gave her confidence in her shooting abilities and she also has her own 9MM pistol now, A Smith and Wesson EZ Shield Performance Center 9MM.

Those EZ PCs are nice, got one myself. Kudos on the Buckmark. Been thinking about a Buckmark or a S&W Victory myself lately.

I know the older Ruger’s were a pain to disassemble and reassemble to clean and they fix that with the MK lV . How much trouble is it to disassemble and reassemble the Browning .

Quite easy to assemble and disassemble. I do quick cleans and oiling on my buckmark in 10 minutes or less. You will need a couple of small Allen wrenches.

I had my first Buckmark stolen. It might have been the “Camper” version. There’s no telling how many rounds I’d put through the barrel. My replacement happens to be the same model you have. You’ll be very happy with it.

My Buck Mark is an older version. I bought it used. It's nothing special, but I shoot it slightly better than my Ruger Standard and Ruger Mark II.

If I understand correctly, the Rugers can be made to be better shooters than the Buck Mark with aftermarket parts, but the Browning sure is nice for an out of the box plinker and range toy. It will get its share of squirrels, too.

Can Any of you fellow Buckmark shooters recommended a good holster for this gun. Seems like slim pickings when I quickly good it. My go to when I can’t find something I like is to just email Rob Leahy over at simply rugged they make great stuff.

Mernickle holsters will make a holster for most any pistol if there is a mold available for it .

As far as cleaning the Buckmark IMHO and according to the manual filed stripping is something to do occasionally and not needed on a regular basis. I clean and lightly lube ours with the bolt locked back, where access is available from either side, using Q-Tips, a few patches or paper towels, and maybe a plastic pick in a few minutes. I rarely clean the barrel either. I do use Q-Tips to clean the chamber regularly and sometimes I put a little Breakfree CLP on Q-Tip and rub the chamber area with it and the then a dry Q-Tip. I also check the two screws on top regularly with proper size allen wrench to make sure they remain tight and so far they have other than shortly after I bought the Buckmark and it started to malfunction and found one if those screws a bit loose. When I clean the barrel I do so from the muzzle end carefully with a brass rod to make sure the crown is not abused in the process. Now I have a coated flexible chamber cleaning rod that could also be used to clean the barrel from the chamber end easily enough. The design of the Buckmark allows it to remain relatively clean compared to other pistols like my Ruger Standard after a range trip.

Consider going to an Army Surplus store and buy one of their holster if the commercials don't interest you. Otherwise commercially, I have not seen any I like.

I don't prefer to take the allen bolts off the top very often, either. I do that about once a year. Also, mine ABSOLUTELY would loosen up until I put clear nail polish on the threads. The first owner might not have been careful with them. Keep an eye on that. It'll start to malfunction if one loosens a little at the range.

I recently bought a Taurus TX22 and I am disappointed in its accuracy . I have been thinking about getting the Buckmark micro .

My plan right now is to go to a gun store that I like that has bins of used holsters and dig through and find something. In the mean time I’ve found an old leather holster my dad gave me with my 6.5” Blackhawk.

I have always wanted one of those, Congrats!
