Hey Guys, While at the Gun Shop picking up my new 5.5 Buckmark .22, I noticed a Colt Goverment Mk IV, Series 70, Para. .45, Double Stack, Bomar adjustible sights, Packmyre grips, very, very clean, Blued, no scratches, and no "idiot" marks. Comes with 2 mage and box, asking price $699.00. I've got all single stack .45's, Is there any pro's or con's with the "double Stacks" and it that a good price? May put on Lay-away today if it's a good deal.

PS. My wife is going to kill me!

Springfield Mil-Spec .45, 2-RIA Tactical Bi-Tones 5," .45's, 2-Buckmarks, 5.5, 6.5, .22lr's, 2- Colt Officers Police Match 6", .22lr, .38Spl., Ruger Security Six, SS 4" .357 Mag.

You noticed a COLT-manufactured Para-ord. 1911?

Very strange indeed.

Though, just to throw in a comment that's not nitpicky--was the Para that you saw one of the LDAs, or a sliding trigger?

On the slide it stated "Colt Mark IV Goverment Model, Series 70, Para", and it is a double stacker. 10 +1. .45 Cal.. This is why i started this thread, I never seen 1 before either. I just called to verify. Had a counterperson i deal with, "verify" the lettering (on the left side of the slde), it is correct. And the frame all components are "Colt", except from what i listed originally. Was there any "marriages" between Colt and Para on the Series-70 at any time? Or could the word "Para" mean something else?

Once upon a time Para sold their frames as kits, allowing you to upgrade your single stack 1911 to a double stack. Sounds like someone mated a Para frame with a Colt slide. Price sounds fair but not great for a parts gun. Lord only knows who assembled it and how good it works.

She is a Colt frame, Going to get her laid out for tonight. (going to the Range) Boy's night out. I'll report tomorrow.

Well Gentlemen, Went, shot it, had problems with FTE's, Slide sticking, was extremely accurate at 25 yards (when it did shoot). The range officer even took it apart to clean it (with me), found the truth. :cuss: the frame is Para, not Colt, the slide was apparently custom engraved. Colt Mk-IV/ Para. while inside, found "Micro-welding" holding the slide rail on the frame behind the slide lock pin hole on the left to the rear of the frame. (not-good) about 1- 1/2". could even be soldering. well it's back to the case. "not even interested", i told the salesman. Needs a new frame. Just comes to show, looks aren't everything!
