NEW 300 Weatherby Vanguard for $300 WooHOO!

Picked it up a couple of weeks ago. Not a fan of impulse buys but wandered into Walmart in Cedar Park, TX a few weeks ago and was looking at ammo asked if they had one by chance and they did! Clearance!

I don't know what the original retail was but saw the exact same one in Cabela's in the "used" section for $679

I know I got the gun below cost, just don't know what they retail for. It has the fluted bolt with the tan speckly type stock.

I know I did good just not sure how good. Any thoughts?

Already got the reloading supplies and loaded up 100 rounds to try out. Slapped a nice Nikon mil dot on it should be a tack driver!

Somebody at Cabelas is on crack. That rifle was a Walmart special that sold for $350-$375 new at regular price.

guy said retail was $450 but clearance at $350 I asked for a discount because it looked like it had cosmetic damage on the bolt...turned out to just be the plastic they dipped it in for shipping. They gave me an extra $50 off Like I said I know it was below cost just didn't know quite how much.

I'd agree with Cabela's smoking crack with their pricing. They are usually 20% OVER msrp on most of their guns. Insane!

.300 Weatherby Magnum @ Bud's is $434, so I'd say you got a great deal, assuming you like having your shoulder thumped hard!

The vanguards made before the new S2 wholesaled around $350 or so. I sold a used 300 for $350. You did good.

Several months ago, I paid $299.99 for a "left-over" S 1 Vanguard, chambered in .257 Weatherby. Mine has proven to be accurate and came with a really nice trigger. For those looking for a bargain, I'd keep a sharp eye out for older Vanguards languishing on the dealer's shelves that are priced way below what the newer S 2s are going for.

Awesome. No great fan of the 300 Weatherby but very much a Vanguard fan. I was happy to pay 299 for a NIB S&W Ibolt 30-06 with factory installed Williams peep and globe sights (30-06) last month and the Weatherby Vanguard is a better rifle. Congratulations.
