Hey guys, I was looking through the midwayusa mail postings and saw that Tapco is now offering new wood furniture in 3 different forms for the AK-47. My personal favorite was the gray laminate stock set. I have NO offiliation with either company, just though it looked cool and wanted to share with my fellow shooters. I may have to pick up an AK now... I hear the dark side whispering....

TAPCO gets a bad rap but a lot of their products are just fine, sometimes pretty good. If it weren't for them most US-civilian-market AKMs would have really awful triggers.
That furniture - I think they're calling it "Timbersmith" or something - looks pretty nice, and it appears to be in the range of $110-120 for a completely finished set. Not a bad deal if you need or want US-made furniture.
Of course, if you want nice AKM furniture, you also owe it yourself to look at products from Ironwood Designs,

I've thought about going with the brown laminate stock if they sold the pieces individually. I only want the butt stock. I've also looked at Iron wood designs, just waiting for the funds.
Question: If I were to get an unfinished butt stock, how would I get the nice two tone look of the Tapco brown laminate stock? I haven't worked with wood stains at all yet.
