I have a Model 12 that was purchased new in 1918 by my great-grandfather. Does anyone have an opinion on firing new ammo? Should I stick with low recoil shells, or is the M12 up to modern rounds?
if in good condition it can handle modern loads.....smaller bore [16 and 20] gauge guns left the factory with less than 2 3/4in chambers untill the late 20s.. 12ga guns were 2 3/4in from the start.....steel shot is not recomended, especially if the gun is full choked....
One thing about the M12, hold the trigger & it will fire as fast as you can jack it, one of the few hammer less shotguns you could do that with & yes it will handle any modern 2 & 3/4 in. loads..............
