I've been kind of looking for an AR. Don't really "need" one, but figured I ought to at least pick one up if I can get one for a decent price before they get banned.

Went to the gunshow in Denver last weekend to see if there would be anything worthwhile. As I kind of expected, Everything was way overpriced it seemed, and the place was packed.

On my way home I called two of the local shops I like to see if they had anything in.

Well, one of them had a M&P15T in stock for $1,099. That seemed pretty fair to me, so I picked it up. They even had a stash of 100 pack 5.56 ammo for sale with gun purchase for $50 or so, which I thought was nice.

So I guess now I'm on the hunt for more 5.56. I did manage to get 3 20 round boxes of .223 by sheer luck, at walmart too.

No pics yet, but it's this one.

Question. Before the panic, what was a decent price for 5.56 ammo. 50 cents a round?

Nice rifle and a pretty decent price!

The last ammo can of M855 I bought was $.33 per round.

Those are real nice very good quality rifles at a good price. Shoot it and enjoy it. Read the owners manual! :)

As to the ammo? Yes about 33 cents a round for 1000 rounds was typical.

I never do Holiday sales or stupid Black Friday nonsense but this past year on Thanksgiving Day the local Gander Mountain ran a sale on 5.56 NATO (Federal Manufacture) at $299 for a 1,000 round can or 29.9 cents a round. I had plenty but figured what the heck it was 10 min down the road. No crowd no problem I grabbed a can, then went back and grabbed another. Looking at a month later it was one thing I finally did right. :)

Eventually bulk should return and prices will get back down.

Very nice.

I almost bought the same rifle. My local GS had 11 in stock the Monday that I looked at it. I went back Wednesday with my sister in law, she was going to buy one for my brother for Christmas and they were gone, the panick had set in. This was right after Obama's first TV speech on gun control. The price was the same as yours.
