Hi Folks,

I picked up a NIB Pietta 1860 Army at our local gun club swap meet. I'm not sure its even been out of the box. It's the steel frame version. The only brass is the trigger guard and front sight. Bluing and wood to metal fit is excellent. It's stiff of course, haven't had a chance to clean it yet, but when cocked it locks up TIGHT. The cylinder is engraved with naval battle scenes. And whoever bought it originally (I think it came from an estate sale) got it from Taylors and Co. I thought it was a good deal for $150, so home it came.

The serial number is 53xxx. Can anyone give me an idea when it was made? It been in the box long enough for the brass to tarnish slightly.

Thanks for any help and opinions.

Jeff

pohill,

Many thanks for the link. The gun is from 1997. Due to an injury I won't be able to get to the range for 6 to 8 weeks. :cuss: At which time I will test the living blank out of it. I'm especially interested to see how it does compared to my Uberti 1860 Army. The guns are identical except for the cylinders: roll engraved, unfluted for the Pietta; unengraved and fluted for the Uberti. The balance is almost identical between the two.

Regards, Jeff
