New Beretta APX

Wow, I must really be out of the loop -- this is the first I had heard of this thing.

I'd like it better if they'd ditch those fugly slide serrations and use more conventional ones on the rear of the slide. My objections are not merely aesthetic either -- I don't see see the benefit in having the grasping serrations along the entire length of the slide. If you're clearing a malfunction, the last place you want your hand to be is over the ejection port, and you certainly don't want it near the muzzle, so for clearing malfunctions, the rear is really the only place you want to grasp the slide anyway. I've never been fond of forward serrations for press checks either.

I've been reading that Beretta intends to submit this to the army's new pistol trials -- which are on hold last I heard. I was under the impression that the army was still requiring a manual safety. I don't see one on this pistol.
