I just wanted to pass along more info on Blackhawk.

He is showing great progress! Martha was not in the best of moods because Bob does not respond well at times, but he is responding to the therapists and is doing really well with the speech therapist. As most of us know he was moved earlier this week to Compass Hospital,14743 Jones Maltsberger Ave., San Antonio, Texas. This hospital specializes in strokes and rehabilitation.

The problem with Bob's condition is that his stroke was at the base of the brain (the brainstem) where the spinalcord enters. This is a delicate area because it controls many of the main functions of the body. As the doctors say...it's even a miracle that he has survived.

Martha asked me to please put something in the High Road indicating her sincere thanks to everyone who has prayed for her and Bob. She is taken aback by all of the support from the readers of her husband's articles and says "God Bless all of them". Remember, we are all strangers to her and the response has been quite a shock.

She's quite a gal! Worthy of our Blackhawk I say.

Thanks for the news, Jeff.

Martha, if you're still reading printouts, there's this to say: you and Bob remain in our thoughts and prayers. We've never met face to face, but it's hard to think of you as strangers. Many, many people have enjoyed your husband's posts and learned from them. We're grateful for that. We're hopeful for your future together and wishing you both more years of happiness. Take good care of yourself, too.

Thanks for that update Jeff. Blackhawk and his family will remain in my prayers. Hope to see him post again one day soon....Best wishes to him and his family, keep on keeping on...:)

Many thx for update Jeff ... sure had been doin a lot of wondering again. All in all ... it sounds remarkable and do so hope things can progress smoothly on track.

And to Martha ... I can but echo Happy Bob's words ... they sum up a lot. :)

And to Bob himself .... keep up the good work!! Failure to return to THR within the allotted time span means .. you have to buy an awful lot of beer!! :D. Take care fella ... you have one heck of a following ya know.:)

Thanks Jeff for the continued updates. We all certainly appreciate your efforts.

To Bob and Martha, the steps will seem minuscule, but keep plugging away. When you look back you'll be amazed at how far you've come.

I'm happy to hear that. I just hope that some day soon, he'll make it back here because I always liked reading his posts.

Good to hear that he's improving. He and his family still have my best wishes and prayers.

Blackhawk: Thank you for everything you have contributed to the firearms comunity. You are missed on many forums and groups. I hope you make a full and speedy recovery. Many people miss you.

Best wishes for a quick recovery to Bob; my thoughts also go to Martha, who must really be going through Hell. I hope that all of our messages over the past several weeks have helped her to feel less alone.

I, too, did not know that he was in SA, TX. Compass is a great hospital, and he is better off there than in about 98% of other hospitals.

An update on Blackhawk. He is still at Compass Hospital in San Antonio and he is progressing with the speech therapist and is making some sounds. He was out of bed and sat up in a chair last week. Later the therapists helped him back to bed. This is amazing progress. The bleed was in the brain stem, so his brain function is there, but all motor skills go through the brain stem and that is where the problem is.

I did get a picture of the frame from Rohrbaugh of Blackhawks pistol and have it posted on www.shotshowreports.com Go to the 2004 reports, second day, in the Rohrbaugh paragraph.

Thx again for an update Jeff ...... sounds like Bob has a long haul ahead ... but we are all behind him and must just keep the power directed his way.

Your pic of the frame ...

Still praying for Blackhawk. Good to hear that he is progressing well. Mrs. Blackhawk, please hang in there. I know it will be hard sometimes, but he'll need your strength. Still, it is natural to at times be discouraged. Find yourself someone to talk to in order to try to keep your spirits up. I do know how hard it can be on loved ones (my grandfather is recovering from a stroke he had just a couple months ago) and I also know how important your support will be for him. Good luck Mrs. Blackhawk, and Blackhawk, we all look forward to your next post.

Jeff

I have had Blackhawk in mind daily ... all the more so because I am in the queue for a Rohrbaugh now myself!

Is there any more news we can have .... tho I appreciate this is one long uphill fight he has.
