New Caliber in the Ruger Super Redhawk.

I’m assuming they announced this at SHOT show but I sure missed it. I’m curious how successful this will be. I find the gun/cartridge interesting but not sure I’d splurge $1500 for it.

Thoughts?

Buddy had the Taurus years ago that I almost bought. I used it for a while and wasn't a fan. Awfully heavy for so little gun.

But I hope they sell millions. Just won't to me

Not something I’m interested in but I’m sure a few out there will like it and they certainly don’t need to justify their tastes to me.

Hey Ruger, since you’re targeting niche firearm platforms how about making a few for me.

1. Ruger#1 with männlicher stock in .327 or .44 mag.
2. Ruger 96 in .327. That caliber should work well in the rotary mag.
3. An M77/.357 again in a männlicher stock…or go completely off the edge and put it in your classic Mini 14 folding stock.
4. BLUED Ruger Hunter 7 shot in .327FM with BISELY grip.

Think a lot of folks are still waiting on those 1894s in 357, 44, and 45C to show up in the stores. Think the 336 is out but you don't see many on the racks. Starting with the 45-70 first wasn't the best thing to do with everyone looking for a handgun caliber carbine now days. By the time they get those out the market will likely change so I think it was a lost opportunity.

A 22 hornet short range varmint handgun - no thanks.

Yes, I agree, I'll take one of each.😁
To the OP, not sure the hornet is the right cartridge for THAT heavy of a barrel in that revolver, but at least it isn't an Alaskan short barrel. That would be totally pointless...

My first thought was "Is the April 1st?"

If companies are building one-offs, hey Taurus, I want a 3" 327.
I'd rather a .45 Colt ultralight snub and a .45 Colt only Rossi Brawler.

All these years and all the email suggestions for new calibers and offerings …. and we get this …?
Your frustration is shared, I look at this and while it's nice for those who were asking for it, I can't help but wonder if there were more people asking for a .22 Hornet Super Redhawk than there were asking for a 3 inch .327 LCRx or .32 LCP or a return of the Old Army.

I bet there are 5k guys out there who would scarf up new production ROA's compared to the 500 or 1000 guys who are looking to buy a .22 Super Redhawk.

Idk, I guess a friend of one of the executives got into Silhouette shooting and asked if they could make it.

I'd rather have a 15-shot .22LR/Magnum SRH with interchangeable cylinders!

I might go for that.

The raging hornet was also entirely too heavy and big imo

Well since we are all making requests, how bout an alloy frame striker fired single stack subcompact in 10mm. Ruger, anyone actually

Ooooo. Id send one of my p97 dc for a 10mm version. Back in the day I really wished for one and I'm pretty sure Ruger did make a few for trials.

I have a 21” Contender Carbine in 22 Hornet and I used to have. 10” Contender barrel in 22 Hornet.

The 10” barrel just did no light my fire so I wonder if the Redhawk revolver will be similar.

Then there is the cartridge set back in the cylinder.

I had the 10” Contender barrel rechambered to 221 Rem Fireball.

My 22 Hornet Contender carbine is a great short range (<100 yards) varmint rifle.

Final note, I built a 221 Rem Fireball 22” Contender carbine with Bullberry furniture and barrel. It is one of my most accurate rifles.
