You would think that Colt would come out with something new, but they just keep remaking the same thing.
I pray that Colt is one day bought by someone that will start putting out new stuff.

This ain't quite the same thing, and it's a King Cobra in name only.
A 3-inch fixed sight "Magnum Carry" is NOT a King Cobra.
    Sad.

I'm seeing "Return Of The King Cobra!" hype elsewhere, and it's no such thing.

I was a little disappointed myself when I saw it, only in one barrel length and what they should have came out with in the first place along side or in place of the Cobra.

The naming convention is what will throw people off more than anything. No it's not a real king cobra. But it looks like s nice offering.

    Same as a Sig P210A isn't really a 210.

Anyone seen a weight on this? When I checked the specs I didn’t see it.

I was disappointed that it wasn't a full size revolver with a 6" barrel being an option at least.

The King Cobra was, after the evolutionary steps that killed off the V-Springs & the two MKs, Colt's premier full-featured .357 Magnum revolver.
Full-length barrels, grip options, adjustable sights.

    This is…...no King Cobra.

I can see where they are going with this, with the regular Cobra being 38 special and the “King” Cobra being 357 magnum, but completely agree the names aren’t appropriate. Would have been better off calling them Detective Special and Magnum Carry, then maybe come out with a real King Cobra. And of course everyone is wanting a new Python on their Facebook page, that will be real interesting to see what revolver gets called that if it ever happens!

Just looks like the small frame Cobra with a full lug barrel. Early April Fools joke???

I figured a new .357 was coming since they didn't make the new Cobra out of alloy. They could have made it in .357 all along, but its really genius to build a .38 first and when the frenzy to get one dries up, build the same gun .357 and make the Colt wheelgun guys buy twice....lol

I like the "Colt Adder" or "Viper" personally if they wanted to stay with Snake names.

    Even the "Racer" would work.

    How about the "Boomslang?" :)

I want to see a DA in .45 Colt.

It looks a lot like the Colt Lawman with a 3” barrel. Fixed sights and all.

Not a bad carry gun I’d guess.

By naming the new Cobra after an existing and slightly different gun they have greatly complicated my search for holsters and grips. Beyond that I’m not bothered by the name, though I agree that Detective Special would have been more appropriate for the 2017 release.

With the way they're going, I can easily see Colt sticking adjustable rear sights on THIS gun & announcing the "Triumphant Return Of The Colt Python!" :)

Name aside, I think they were right to start out their new revolvers with a concealment carry piece, but once you start getting into magnums, tread carefully on recycling names associated with a better product, and offer a full-featured magnum.

What will happen here is predictable.
As with established precedent, Colt will milk this configuration in as many different shades of lipstick as they can.
Like the new Cobra, expect a dark King Cobra, and so on.

I am interested in seeing one in person, name aside the reviews on here from owners of the Cobra have been mostly positive, with most seeming to really like them.

If they bring back the 4 " King Cobra with adjustable sights and the 6 " Anaconda I'll buy. Two guns I wish I had got back in the day. Of course in the early 90's a King Cobra was $400 new and a Anaconda $600 to $700 new in the box.

It looks like basically the 2017 Cobra with a longer barrel and 357 designation/capability. Frame/etc looks the same to me. Looks like from a cost saving standpoint uses a lot of the same parts.

Meh, I'll buy one. Not for any particular reason, already have a 3" 60-15. Just because, I guess.

So one of the most desirable K-frames is the pre-lock 3" Model 65 as issued to the FBI. Smith isn't building it. Or if they do, it would have the dreaded lock hole.

Colt has just created it or their own version of it.
