I have decided to purchase my first handgun and after much research decided that a 4" .357 revolver would be the best type of gun to start with. I have looked extensively at the Smith 686, the Ruger GP 100, and they both look great. However, there is just something about the Colt Python that is calling my name. I am a little bit uneasy about buying an old gun because I just don't know enough about them yet to make sure I am getting a good one. I have also read things from various places stating that you can get a new one from the Colt Custom Shop. Has anyone done this? Here is the link that I found on the Colt website.

I assume you just call them and they will ship it to a FFL dealer after they make it and you either pay them by credit card or pay the FFL.
Any help or opinions would be appreciated.
