I just took delivery of a new Series 80 Colt Combat Commander. Everything is stock.

My favorite 45 ACP load is currently 200 grain SWC plated with 6.0 grains Unique. Just curious if anybody has any experience with the new CCs and if they will feed SWCs ok.

When I got my Mk 4/ Series 70, it would not feed anything other than round nosed bullets until I had Clark guns lower the feed ramp. I wonder if the CC is going to do the same.

Thanx.

I'd sure be surprised if didn't feed them! I have a couple of Colts and a Nork govt models that handle them well, and more recently got a Colt Defender, with 3" barrel, that eats them up. One type I haven't reloaded and tried yet are hollow points, but I expect them to function well enough. For a long time I used tapered flat nose in 225gr which made a neat hole in the paper that I could see well but more recently tried some 200gr SWC and they "seem" a bit more accurate. Even my ole Rem-Rand worked good with the 225gr type. Haven't tried it with SWC yet.

Why wonder? Go shooting.

My well throated 1911s would not reliably run with Ranier plated SWCs. So they continue to get cast SWC. And more and more hardball; so much less to worry about.
