Got an email from Coonan four days ago about their new Compact models. I was waiting for a story on their website to link, but they still haven't posted anything. Their website is uniformly horrible, and must be costing them business.

That being said, I haven't seen anyone else post about the compact, so here goes with details from the email.

Two new Coonan Compact models:
  • .357 Mag.
  • 6+1 rounds
  • 4" barrel

The stainless has white dot sights, wooden grips and an MSRP of $1535. The black DuraCoat has night sights, aluminum grips, and an MSRP of $1975.

Cool guns but for $400 more I hope to hell that coating is something hard and durable like Ionbond or something similar and not actually Duracoat. If it is you can save a bunch of money if you buy the $35 DIY Duracoat kit and spray your stainless steel version at home.

Looks pretty sweet. A compact 357 mag in 1911 platform has got to be hard on the hands and not enjoyable after a few mags. Not my cup of tea, but if you like I'd say go for it
