Hi folks. I found a CZ-40P at a gunshow for $299.00 plus tax. Seems like a quality weapon at a good price. I know CZ's reputation so I expect it was money well spent. But I have a few questions:

1. I know the CZ-40B is no longer produced. Is the CZ-40P the current production model. It kind of looks like a larger P-01.

2. Directions were pretty unclear. To disassemble it says to align the two recesses on the slide and frame, then push the slide-stop through. There are two round shaped dimples that I aligned and managed to disassemble the gun, but there are also two verticle lines on the rear of the frame and slide that line up when the slide is retracted about 1/4". What are these for?

3. There is a small white plastic tube about 1/2" that was over the recoil rod/spring assembly. Is this some sort of recoil buffer? Never saw anything like it on a stock pistol. What do I do with this thing???

4. Recoil rod seems to be plastic and flimsy (it was actually bent). Is there a steel aftermarket rod to replace it with? Is this recommended? Also, what is the stock # weight of the recoil spring?

Thanks for any help. Initially this seems like a very quality gun. I'm looking forward to shooting it. Are there and CZ dedicated gun forums?

Hello;

The czforum.com should be able to take of you. I think that they have a section dedicated to your new acquisition!

40-p

The 40p was put together by CZ using left-over 40b and P01 parts; the bushing is the recoil buffer; it takes some getting used to disassembling the gun, but after a couple of times, it's pretty easy; don't have any idea what the vertical lines are for; the recoil rod is plastic; it works fine but lots of people replace with a FLGR of differing metals; you can get them from 12 volt man; go to the cz forum and read all about the 40p and other cz's; I promise you will not regret your purchase; the 40p is my favorite shooter!!

On the 40P you line up the dimples not the lines for disassembly. Check out the CZ FORUM, they have a dedicated section for the 40P. Your going to love this gun
