New Dawn of the Dead movie coming out, time for a new zombie-killer thread?

Regarding The Zombie Survival Guide , the odd (considering all normal TEOTWAWKI scenarios) thing is that it reccomends the absolute minimum caliber you need to penetrate the skull, and the max magazine capacity. So essentially the .30 M1 carbine (and so on) is where it's at. Too bad I no longer own one.
The problem is, it offers no strategies for when everything falls apart, although you can read between the lines. What you want, it seems, is a 10-15 foot deep concrete walled moat or culvert; get them to pile in, dump some drums of gas in there, let it stir, and light with road flare/ flaregun/ firequest shotgun round. Repeat as necessary.
Fast zombies depart from the Romero cannon and really screw everything up. I figure then you want something that will break arms, legs, pelvises, spines, whatever you hit, so it'll sit still (relatively) for the headshot. I do not appreciate childhood nightmare enemies gaining new abilities after I've spent years evolving a survival strategy. Crouching tiger wire fighting zombies have just not been in the cards 'till now.
But at any rate, Tom Savini does appear in Dawn of the Dead 2004, he's the sheriff in the trailer. It's a kind of treasured cameo reprise of the original NOTLD sherriff's "yah, they're dead, they're all messed up." But he's clearly visible in the trailer.

Yep, i was wrong. Savini does have a cameo in the movie. Still he isnt having hand in MAKING the move as far as i can see. Ill probably see it on opening night anyways just on general principles. I just wish that they would have given it a different name and made it its own movie. in ten years i'll be talking about "Dawn of the Dead" with my peers, and we wont be talking about the same movie. Its already happening with Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Wow, finally a pratical application for that AR-15 Pistol. What was I thinking the other day when I commented that it's only a fun toy with no practical application. I just never though of Zombies.

And if I miss, the 5-10 foot flames out of the muzzle will light them on fire.

Pics here Carbon 15 Pistol type 97

The Dead trilogy has too much silly social commentary in it - there's always at least one scene where a redneck is shooting zombies, having fun, and some other character with a conscience is shaking their heads disapprovingly, making an "artsy" condemnation about violence. This scene usually occurs a short time after Romero cleverly and hipcritically re-kills a zombie with a helicopter rotor.

Romero isn't making any kind of "statement" against "rednecks" - in that opening 45 minutes of Dawn, we see journalists, police, minorities, "rednecks," and the army behave less than perfectly. I believe he's just talking about the breakdown of society and the conflict between different groups within society (have to see the commentary to be sure).

As for the violence, I don't think the Dead Trilogy is anti-violence at all - how else are you going to dispose of walking carnivorous corpses? - but anti-conflict. The struggle between Ben, Harry, and Tom in Night, the scientists vs. army battle in Day - he's saying people have to work together to solve their problems.

Romero is from Pennsylvania, not exactly an anti-gun state. He has a neat scene in "Dawn" where our heroes get an arsenal from a gun store. Unless he says something to the contrary, I don't think he's a hardcore anti.

Zombie killing?
At least a .30 carbine-something with penetration and light recoil for fast follow up shots. A sword, battleaxe, or machete for CQZB. Backup auto pistols-preferably high cap.

Shotgun-nice, but slow to reload.

Face shield, rubber gloves, bleach for deconning, in case it IS infectious.

Quad .50, USAS 12 with 20 round drums, USP's with hi-cap mags, Cold Steel Katana, Cut down remmy 870 with flamethrower rounds.

Anyone watch Junkyard Mega Wars this weekend? I'm thinking it's time to build a flamethrowing tank bristling with AK barrels.

And 28 days totally re-vamped the zombie movie. It was cool.

ya know...I wanna add to my earlier post...I would also prolly carry a Glock 17 as they would fit my KT 2k 9mm...FMJ's would be the bullet of choice to make sure I get through the skull...

Also prolly use one of those Saiga 12 semi-autos for "close encounters" and have my Cold Steel Kukri as a back up when out of bang bang..

ROMERO NEEDS TO MAKE THE 4TH INSTALLMENT!!!!!!!!

Romero is certainly not making anti-violence statements in the Dead movies. The people who don't fight are the ones who end up dead. WIth the rednecks i think your reffering to the end of NOTLD where you have the yokels stringing up zombies and shooting them for fun. He IS making a point there i think. What he is saying is how in times of desperation/chaos our thin viel of "civilization" crumbles down and we start behaving like animals. Its a valid point if you've ever seen the aftermath of earthquakes, hurricanes, civil disturbannces etc.

Guys, I recall reading at least one professional movie reviewer claim that "Dawn" had a strong anti-violence message, and that's they way I interpeted it as well.

In any case, this is a horror movie about a situation that won't ever happen, so I think I will add that a perfect zombie killer would be a miniature gatling gun in .22 lr.

And my favorite zombie line: "MMmmmm...MOOORRE.....BRAINS!
