New Fed AG / ATF pull a rotten trick !

I love this last bit:

"Maintaining open lines of communication is vital to the successful future of ATF’s partnership with the import community."

With policies such as this implemented - there won't be an import community with whom the ATF can "partner" or communicate with.

-sigh-

Another uphill battle.

i'm confused on two counts:

1. i thought batfe was a dept of treasury. was it moved under homeland defense or something? the letterhead says "dept of justice"

2. what does gonzales have to do with this? why wouldn't this be the "bush gun grab"?

1) They are now split between the two departments. A few tax collectores are left in Treasury. Most are now in the Justice Dept. "sort of under the FBI."

2) The Attorney General is the head of the Justice Dept.

Most are now in the Justice Dept. "sort of under the FBI."
They are in the Department of Justice, but they are NOT "sort of under the FBI." Just like the DEA, and USMS, the ATF is a separate organization within Justice, and none of those organizations are "under the FBI" in any way shape or form.

This is just a little turn of the screw - wait until these freedom lovers you put in office finish screwing this screw in, it's going to hurt before they're done.

The BATFE also did the same thing under Klintoon.

It was under Ashcroft that they re allowed the import of parts kits.

No Friend Of Mine

I have said it before, George Bush is NO FRIEND of gun owners.
George Bush has ALWAYS supported the AWB. :barf:

This will be another reason I will never never vote for a Republican again-after voting Republican in every election for the last 38 years.

Bush is responsible for Gonzalez so it is the Bush Gun Grab. Actually it's the "Bush II Gun Grab" as we have his father to thank for the 89 import ban. In the case of the presidency, the republicans aren't a whole lot better than the Democrats. We are screwed either way as far as I can tell.

RileyMC, I can understand your being upset with the Rino/GOP base, but one has to admit that Sen.Tom McClintock has it right along with a few, sadly just a very few other Republicans here in Cal.

I totally agree with you the pickings are slim, yet I could not
vote for a Dem. We know where they sit as far as firearms..

What are the ramifcations of this on the avaliability of FAL, CETME, and AK rifles?

If the barrels aren't already here in the country and cleared through customs as of 9/10/05 then you can't ever get them in again.

That means the available barrels will shoot way up in price. A U.S. company could start making barrels but my guess is they'll be horrid quality. That's just my opinion and it comes from judging the excellent quality of all the U.S. made AK mags we have . Don't ask me why America can't duplicate simple communist designs.

Probably because we're not allowed to lubricate the machinery with blood sweat and tears?
