So anything worth doing is worth doing to excess. Chris Whistler is finishing up the custom grips for my 5-1/2" stainless ROA. Here is the latest picture.

The grips are made from Australian Buloke. Buloke is recognized as THE hardest, densest wood on the planet.

They are Bob Munden gunfighter style, which Chris did and still does make for Munden's gunsmithing. Since it has a Power Custom 2-piece Colt style frame...Chris was able to make one piece grips. This means no grip screws at all.

The medallions are a pair of 1920's mercury head silver dimes that have been completely relieved. Chris is going to fill in completely around the relief. Chris didn't make them...I pilfered them from my wife's jewelry stash.

The grips were custom made to my meat hook mitts. This was really easily done as Chris lives about an hour or so away.

What about the cowerie wood of New Zealand; they can only harvest buried stumps as the trees are extinct, supposed to be the most valuable wood in the world and very hard and beautiful.

Those are so handsome. I made a pair of grips from Purpleheart, which is very hard. tI sounds like a pool ball if a piece falls to the concrete floor. I really look forward to seeing the end result! Don
