I've just added a 4" SS Security Six to my small Ruger DA revolver collection. I've been keeping an eye out and wanting one for a while. I've run across a couple in the last month or two, but they were in rough shape or over priced. This one was not in bad shape mechanically, but looked like it had not been cleaned in a very long time (very dirty). After giving it a good cleaning, I changed the factory rubber grips to some checkered walnut grips and headed to the range yesterday. It performed flawlessly and had no accuracy issues. It has a little more recoil than I anticipated shooting 357's, but not as bad as the SP101. I also took the GP100 with me, and its still my favorite shooter, but I do like the Security Six.

Zebraranger:

Put some Pachmayr presentation grips on your nice Security-Six and it will shoot much more softly than those wood grips that you have on it now. My 4" Security-Six shoots as softly as my 4" GP100 with these Pachmayr's on it! For looks though, I do like those wood grips you have on your Security-Six now! CDNN usually has them in stock-priced reasonably! They are nice!

Very nice!

I once considered trading my Security Six and I'm glad I didn't I appreciate it more each time I shoot it.

Beautiful collection! I'm in love.

Thanks, I bought the grips from CDNN Sports. They had four different grips for the Security Six, great price on them too.

I picked up a nice used 2 3/4" Security Six recently and I really like it. I think it's a very nice size, I had looked at new SP101's and was slightly underwhelmed. The SP101 is just a little too large for a pocket gun and just a little too small to be a really versatile .357 Magnum revolver. The snubby Security Six will conceal just about anywhere the SP101 will and it's a comfortable shooter. I don't feel I need the slightly larger GP100 and the SS will do anything an SP101 will do.

AFAIR Speed/Security Sixes came from the factory with wood grips.

Nice gun. It fits in just about any K frame holster so that shouldn't be an issue if you decide to carry it.

I am very fond of the Security Six. Here is mine, I bought many years ago before the "warning" was stamped on the barrel. Not long after I bought it, I decided I wanted different, more "shootable" grips. Ordered a set from Herrett's. The checkering was still eating up my hand so I sanded down the checkering, refinished them, and the smooth grips you see here are just the ticket! (Or as the late Col. Charles Askins would have said, "They're just the huckleberry!" :D )

Got to love those Security-Sixes! Wish I still had a couple of them. The heavy barrel 4" was my favorite. I like the look of your wood grips, but for me, Pachmayrs fit and worked just fine.

Zebraranger, I'm clad those Sile wood grips at CDNN work for you. I tried them on my Six and HATED them! My middle finger hit the bottom of the trigger guard every shot. I switched the grips to the Sile square butt finger groove grips (also at CDNN) and have never looked back! The rubber Siles, are great for CCW since they are not tacky, thus virtually no printing on your shirts fabric.
