Here are the new grips I put on my taurus pt 1911. I guess you'd either love or hate them. I wasn't sure how well they'd look but I think they look nice on it.
It's real diamondback snakeskin on plastic grips. I got them off of ebay.
Here is a link to another set he is selling. So far, the skin seems like it will be pretty durable. Obviously you have to treat these with a little care. If you were to put these on a carry gun, I think you would lose quite a few scales over time. I lost one scale while putting them on and you can't really tell it. He does regular or ambidextrous also. They are a good bit wider than the stock taurus grips that were on it. I think they would have been considered a slim grip. The snakeskin gives a pretty good grip.
I think they're cool! I'm always amazed at how much just changing the grips can change the look and feel of a gun so completely. It almost makes me understand why my wife needs so many purses! I could probably turn into a serious grip-a-holic if I wasn't careful. Right now I have three sets of grips for my RIA 1911 - with another one on the way. Each set gives the gun a completely different look. It's certainly cheaper than owning 4 more guns!
