Yeah, They may be able to put electronic stuff in a pistol to make it work for the correct person only...
And that might even be a good thing in a "Gun Grab" situation.
But give me just a little time and a few basic tools and I GUARANTEE It can be "Hacked" to work.
Think about it- Regardless of the gizmos installed it's still a machine. Remove a part or two, make a trigger link, or whatever...
And then it's on the street just like all the other guns.
This is just another "Feel Good" idea that will change nothing and can only serve to increase the cost of owning a gun.
And that might even be a good thing in a "Gun Grab" situation.

Funniest thing I have read on THR.
We have some nice toys to play with in the military. Red dot sights, night vision, IR lasers etc. These items are designed to be abused and mistreated and yet still break. Mechanical components of firearms wear down overtime and break. Why would I trust a circuit small enough to fit in a ring or grip to fire a weapon when I need it to when I have seen hardware designed to be air dropped break on a door frame?

With all of the modern automobiles being recalled for software or firmware glitches....the absolute last thing I need is a firearm which follows that same pattern. No thank you.
Why don't they just wrap us all in foam rubber, sedate us, and set us in front of a TV for our lifespan....we'll be safe then.

This was one of the factors that almost led to Colt's demise the last time it came up. I wonder how much money they wasted on "smart guns" (NON-working models trotted out on "Tales of the Gun") that could have been spent on modernizing their productive capacity and actually turning out an up to date semi-auto handgun that anyone would be willing to buy.
I HIGHLY doubt anybody else is going to head down that dead end just because some anti-gun ignoramus whose parents don't monitor his movie and TV watching says they ought to.

Of coarse they could just put a card reader on the back of the grip, it would make updates so much faster.

No, the next state-level target will be banning entire calibers based on whether they were originally designed for "assault weapons. Outright ban on any semi-automatic firearm in .223 or 7.62x39, etc.

Not an new idea, Sig experimented with a model about 13 years ago with one that had to have a pin entered and it would be "unlocked" for 1/2 hour, 2 hours or 8 hours. If entered incorrectly three times the gun would lock and have to have a master code entered.
