New guns at Wal-mart

Manufacturer's don't lower the quality to sell at Walmart.

I beg to differ, find a Wal-Mart with a Marlin 336 and find a local gun store with a new 336, you can tell a huge difference in the quality, texture and finish of the wood and how deep the metal finish has been blued.

Wal-Mart sells AR's... SO WHAT! Does the guy/gal behind the counter know anything about them? Can they answer your questions about after market accessories, or show you how to disassemble it, or show you how to lighten the trigger pull?

When Walmart opened in my neck of the woods, they had a Marlin Camp 9 on the shelf for a song and dance. No box, nothing but the gun w/ mag. I put it on layaway. When I paid it off and picked it up, they wrapped it up in brown paper and a manager escorted me out of the store. By far the weirdest firearm purchase I ever made. Decided right then I'd rather purchase elsewhere.

Seen Sig and BMI ARs here. No Colt, thank God cause I prolly would have bought all they had...

Wait till they run all your local full-service gun shops out of business, like the did here.

Then they will stop selling guns at all, like they did here.

That won't happen in most places, and definitely not in my state.

Walmart cannot offer the same selection and service as your normal gunshop. Nor do most people buy firearms (not even pistols) at Walmart. Most people who buy there are casual shoppers. If you really wanted something specific, you would go to your local gunstore.

The only reason I usually go to walmart is for cheap ammo (and groceries).

Our local Wal Mart used to have quite an extensive outdoor area, lots of hunting clothes, firearms, knives and accessories. However, nowadays the selection has dwindled to some rather slim pickings as far as hunting stuff goes. Not the place to purchase a fine firearm, your lucky if the person behind the counter even knows how to properly handle a firearm much less be knowledgeable in how to use it.
