Hey all. I'm new here and looked around for a place to introduce myself, but didn't really see anything, so a short intro is....My name is Chris, and I am currently a student in college, but will hopefully be going into LE when I graduate. I have always enjoyed shooting. Been to a few ranges where you can rent rifles, as well as been shooting with my friend who owns a few AR's. I love it, and have read alot about the new AWB that is said to be going on, and the panic buying that is taking place. So I wanted to look into getting an AR now, before I can't get one at all.

As I have just started my search, I have been reading alot about the laws of the great state of NY, and it seems like every aspect of the AR makes it an AW in the eyes of NYS, but I know that can't be true, because they seem to be prevalent around here.

I am really interested in this rifle here. It seems to be priced reasonably and is the same style as my friends AR's (which I'm ASSuME-ing makes it legal). Am I wrong on that?

How hard are they to clean/maintain? I won't be shooting every weekend, but plan on going as often as possible.

Should I be looking at a different model/manufacturer? I'd like to get a cheap one (at least cost wise), but not get a POS that could be a hazzard to myself and the people around me.

I appreciate any advice or comments you have.

Thanks alot,
Chris

Chris,

Run away from that thing... Save your money until you got around 1k. Then go get a real rifle. Or just buy the stripped lower and build your rifle up as you get money. Then you can put exactly the parts on it you want. And will be way better quality.

The ARs you saw are probably pre-ban. Anything made after the law went into effect in 1994 would probably be illegal.
