so I have a good balance of assorted toys / tools... as a younger guy I used to enjoy blasting away rounds, as fast as I could pull the trigger...

... lately though I seem to have switched gears... I think the TC Contenders are to blame for slowing me down ???

lately I purchased 2 "junkers"... one a fairly "loose" old Martini tropical action, chambered in 50 - 70 Gov.... it's a blast to shoot, with my wifes cousins, that are into reinactments...

the other is a nice tight Martini tropical action, rebarreled with a 45 win mag barrel, rechambered for 45-70... the rifling of this light weight hex 45 win mag barrel, carry's enough twist to effectively stabilize the heavier bullets... mated to the hex barrel, is a 3 leaf safari sight, mounted on a custom front barrel band, which helps support a glass bedded front wood... this gun is exceptionally fun to shoot, & I hoestly love my to old Martini's, more than most of my semi autos I started out buying years ago...

so what old "junk" do you guys enjoy shooting ???

Well, I have plenty of tactical this and that but here's what I really like shooting

Enfield 2A1
Mosin-Nagant 91/30
Swedish M96 Mauser
Swiss K31
Finnish M39
Mauser 98K Nazi
M1917 Eddystone Enfield
Lee-Enfield No 4 Mk 1/2
Springfield 1903A3
Sharps 1874 Billy Dixon
Mosin-Nagant 91/30
Springfield Armory M1 Garand
Mosin-Nagant M44
Mossberg 46M(a)
Mannlicher-Berthier Mle92-27
Springfield 1873 Trapdoor

I have no "junk" , but here is what I shoot... Swiss k31, k11 , 96/11 ,Mosin 91/30, Mosin m38. Mosin M44, Turk mausers, German K98 Mauser , Yugo Mauser(k98), Yugo 24/47, Yugo sks, VZ24, VZ98/22, Swede m94, British Enfield ,French Mas36. Love -em all. I recommend any of these. Swiss #1 though.

I find myself shooting my milsurps a lot, too.

And I share your affection for Martini's. My favorite varmit rifle is a Martini Cadet, rebarreled, shooting a .17/.357mag wildcat. Its the size and weight of a BB gun, but shoots a little farther.

Had a Swedish Mauser, that I traded off to a buddy of mine... along with a case of new remington ammo for it... ( at the time... he like the old "junk" better than I did )... now that he has retired & gotten old enough that he's starting to sell off his collection, & I've now gotten more into the old straight bolts & the like... I may have to get that one back...

BTW... I think he still has a 8X50R... but am not totally sure on the make / model...

& BTW #2... I don't really consider anything listed here junk... just my way of talking about the older moldy ones...;)

Marlin 39a .22LR lever gun, purchased new in 1940 by my grandmother as a wedding present to my grandfather, may they both rest in peace.

Talk about a family hierloom!

FTR, 1943 Longbranch No4 Mk1*, all numbers mismatched, will print 1" groups at 100 yards with a few handloads. Darn little recoil, great rifle! Still have the Mosin M38 hidden away, don't shoot it as much, whilst playing with 303 handloads.

ARMORE... that is a beautyfull rifle... & just what I was refering to when I say "old junk"...

I don't personally care if numbers match, if they look nice, shoot nice, or bring back fond memory's... it's well worth owning... your's is a piece I'd be proud to own...

BTW... I've got an old M-1 National Match ( parts gun )... it's tons uglier than your MK-1... but it was assembled buy an old tool & die buddy of mine, & it shoots way better than I'm capable of... but if you look at it... it would fall into most collectors "junk" catagory... but it's one I'll never sell...

Nice Mosin in the pic armoredman

I have four old Mosin's in my collection. The last time my Father visited he indicated that the Mosin-Nagant was one of the weapons that he taught to the Special Forces. It is such a small world.

My only old rifles are a couple dozen Mosin Nagants -- mix of M38, M44, and M91/30, and two No4 Enfields.

As for old designes, I love me a good levergun.

my favorite piece of "old junk" is a Stevens Favorite takedown carbine in .25 Stevens Long. fun to shoot, when i can find ammo for it.
