New guy with an AK question

Hi, new guy here. I'm interested in getting an AK, but I don't know anything about them. Can anyone tell me anything about the Yugo M70 B1? Are they decent quality? Are spare parts readily available? Are good quality magazines available for it?

All i have read have been good things.You want to look out for the usual century problems(sights canted,gas tube canted),for the most part these rifles r gtg qulity wise.Spare parts r out there but they r specific for that ak and any standard ak mags will fit fine.

I own an Egyptian Maddi and have a doz Romanian AKs at work. They just don't quit. They are all in 7.62X39. I have no experience with the Yugos.

Yugos are good quality but the stocks are different and if you plan on accessorizing you might be dissapointed with the selection of aftermarket accessories.

I've got a Yugo underfolder and LOVE IT!

I do wish that accessories were as common (I got plastic handguards... later decided that I want wood ), but as an AK I like it better than the Romanian one that I bought a while back. More solid, better shooter, etc. Don't expect sub MOA wonders, but I shouldn't have to tell you that, right?

A good plinker, and for the price, it rocks. If you're like me, and you don't want to spend 1000 bucks on an AK, this is a good one to get.

Thanks for the replies. The only thing holding me back is that an SKS is less than half the price.

Get them both (SKS and AKM) and buy a case of ammo!

my dad has that exact model and it is awesome, i like it even better than my mak-90 they are good shooters and i have had 0 problems with it. the underfolder feature is nice for keeping it compact. the only thing that you might have to do is change out the trigger, the one on my dads is managable but an aftermarket trigger will be going in there, my mak-90 trigger on the other hand is sweeet as can be. go for the yugo you might get one with a nice trigger if not or if that isn't an issue for you then you will be g2g.
