new italian assault rifle

I don't understand why everyone keeps trying to improve on the AR/M16. Nothing original anymore. Kinda like how people keep resurecting comic book heros for movie ideas...

seriously...if you can't think of something better than what is already cheaply available from either Colt or FN or HK, then don't make it yourself. It looks unbelievably ugly.

Whoah! Light! About a pound lighter than the SCAR with a similar barrel length and weight.

Interesting that Beretta would go to all the effort of that reversible ejection instead of putting a shell deflector on there.

Even more curious that they would go with the polymer trunion after it was so maligned in the G36.

I think I am about to do the Technicolor yawn

Seems h&kish but nothing new to offer just another gun.

It's hideous, and looks about 3x bulkier than it should be. Why can't anyone make a slim and handy new rifle any more? Oh wait, Robinson Arms made the XCR...

Great website though Max, it's a wonderful reference.

Didn't the "fine print" at the bottom of the page say "mid '80's"?
Gas piston; check
SBR; check
Italian; check
Don't want one/need one, but it is what it is.
Those people from the boot shaped land make such pretty O/U's, how come they cannot get the rifle thing correct? Oh yeah, the 51L in the safe is sweet looking, says made in Italy beretta, but for some reason it appears to be a sako 75........humm

People really need to stop encasing ARs in the gun equivalent of a bolt-on ricer body kit and renaming 'em the SuperTac 2000 XTR.

Seriously, looking at that thing just makes me think of a 10/22 with the MG34 stock kit.

Since nobody is pointing out the obvious flaws, I will, understanding that this is still a pre-production model:

1) What is the reversible ejection but a vanity in a non-bullpup? Seems it would have been quite a bit easier to use a case deflector instead. Perhaps the redundancy of interchangeable/symmetrical extractor/ejectors was deemed worth it. It seems like a very, very odd choice in light of the fact that the gun has to be disassembled to move the charging handle.

2) The magazine release does not appear to be ambidextrous.

3) The magazine release does not appear to be shrouded or protected in any way.

4) When folded the stock interferes with the ejection on one side as well as the magazine release and safety selector.

5) The charging handle appears to be reciprocating and located where it may become hard to access if optics are mounted.
