New Jersey carry permit requirements

The interim New Jersey Permit To Carry, Use of Force and Safe Handling and Proficiency qualification has been published by the NJ State Police.

The proficiency requirements are fairly tough. How do they compare to those in other states?
This is the recommended quaification course in South Carolina:

25-ROUND MINIMUM COURSE OF FIRE
On or after August 15, 2021, the below standardized course of fire is suggested for use to satisfy the “Proof of Training” requirement set forth in S.C. Code Ann. § 23-31-210(4)(a)(iv). However, the course of fire is up to the instructor’s discretion related to distance, manner of fire, and timing so long as the minimum 25 rounds are fired in the presence of the instructor.
Students will draw from a concealed holster in the manner that they intend to carry:
(1) 3-yard line - Student will draw and fire 5 rounds in 10 seconds;
(2) 5-yard line - Student will draw and fire 5 rounds in 10 seconds;
(3) 7-yard line - Student will draw and fire 5 rounds in 10 seconds;
(4) 10-yard line - Student will draw and fire 5 rounds in 12 seconds; and
(5) 12-yard line - Student will draw and fire 5 rounds in 15 seconds.

I approximated it today using my late Uncle's Charter Arms Pathfinder .22 off the indoor range bench top instead of a holster and NOT kneeling. 90%, I dropped one shot at 15 yards and four at 25; but I was aiming in all cases. I tried a string "point shoulder" and it got ugly fast.
I’m still wondering why the State requires proficiency in a shooting style that was obsolete when Barney Fife was a cadet? And it’s a style that was abandoned for good reason.
(actually I don’t wonder, I suspect I know the answer)

Who else is glad the driving test no longer requires a driver qualify in a car with a double-clutch transmission? 👍🙋‍♂️
I wonder how many people would fail if they had to drive a car with no synchromesh, no power steering, a floor mounted starter and a dynamo generator?

But the last 2 paragraphs of the interim order state.........

*Per 2C:58-4 Permit to Carry Handguns, one permit shall be sufficient for all handguns owned
by the holder thereof.
*Any requirement for classroom instruction and target training shall not be required for a
renewal applicant who completed the instruction and training when obtaining a permit to carry a
handgun issued within the previous two years.

So looks like me and wifey are good.From our previous instruction and training with our permit issued a year ago.
