This is my beloved 66 that my late father purchased new in 1982. I have the original target grips for it that are mint but I really never cared for the feel of them. I've tried Hogues, factory combat and a few others but never found the feel I was looking for. Until now. I've watched the listings from Gripseller on ebay for some time now. The Kim Ahrends Retro looked good and I wanted to try a pair but waited until I found a set with the grain I wanted. I saw many but they were for N frames or K/L round. I saw these last weekend and bought them. I received them in 4 working days later and sure enough, the feel was what I have been looking for. I'm going to tweak them a bit with S&W silver medallions. Now, a shameless plug. Terri (Gripseller) specializes in Kim Ahrends and Altamont grips. I have a pair of 1911 stipled Altamonts and now these Kim Ahrends. Both top quality products. Terri's service is second to none. Great communication and is genuine about wanting her customers to be happy. By the way, I want to keep the original grips mint so I guess you could call these my user grips. Not bad for users, huh?

Beautiful grips. I've been working on setting up their family 401k this past couple of years. Good people and great grips.

I hope you don't mind me piggy backing on your thread. I just got a set of Ahrends for my 66. Ordered them from Ahrends, nice people.
These are cordia wood, round to square butt tactical. Shot a match with them yesterday and they worked out perfectly.
I love em.

And I'm not getting any discount for volume buys or advertising.

My kids are through college.

I have a couple sets of Black/silver Dymonwood on order right now.

I've got a "special" order in, for a pair of Kim's Retro Target stocks. I sent him a piece of Gaboon Ebony, and he is going to try to make a set of stocks for my S&W 686. No guarantee (ebony is known to be brittle), but if he is able to pull it off, the combination of stainless steel and ebony should be quite nice. Keeping my fingers crossed.
