New Kimber K6s

I bought one a couple of months after they were introduced and regularly follow Kimber forums. I am unaware of any extraction problems with this revolver, in fact the K6s appears to be one of the best performing new firearm introductions in recent years. Yes, they have tight tolerances which is why they receive such high acclaim.
Yeah, this thread is really the first I've heard of any extraction issues, so I was a little puzzled by that statement too.

Though I've pretty much given up on other forums. Theres too many fan boy posts and outright hostility towards anything even slightly critical of their favorite makers. Civilized conversations are lacking.

So maybe I've missed those reports.

I pulled the trigger today and took my new to me Kimber K6S out for a test run. Very impressed. One of the easiest guns to get used to I've ever shot and a very unique trigger. You can basically shoot it single action or double action. Not crazy about the little dinky grips, but it was very easy to control. Didn't run any .357 through it. Shot about 50 rounds of standard 38 wadcutter getting used to the gun and followed up with about 35 rounds of +P Golden Saber which is my normal carry ammo. At 10 yards had zero problems keeping all rounds in the head of a standard b27 target. It may have found a place at the top of the carry rotation.

I just ordered a K6s Deep Cover. Should be here Friday, can't wait!
I looked all over locally, but no one has one.

I ordered the somewhat larger walnut grips (generally available for $52 but currently out of stock at Kimber) at the same time I ordered the DCR, and love them. I have relatively slim fingers; on the standard grip my fourth finger ended up on the bump. The walnut do not have finger grooves, very comfortable giving me all fingers on the grip. I replaced my SP101 with custom work from Gemini Customs (an excellent gun) with the DCR. Very well done.

The grips issue is interesting. Larger grips=harder to conceal. Smaller grips=less control. I have the factory CT grips on mine and I don't know if it is the grip vs. trigger finger angle or the actual frame design but I shoot my K6s best when I put the ball of the grip into the center of my palm. This gives me the optimal angle for trigger stroke. Shooting my Smith snubbies I can use take much higher grip on the backstrap. I think this is presents a great opportunity for some creative grip manufacturer.
