Just wanted to show off (well sorta) my new carbine. I had an old AR-15 receiver laying around from about 1995 and I decided to finally build it into a rifle for my kids. My rifle, I let them shoot it. I know my kids won't really appreciate fancy whoosits, so I decided to go light and simple. The only splurging I did was in using a larger pistol grip (for me) and the M-4 double-shielded handguards. I don't want them complaining after 200 rounds that the handguards are hot.

I bought the upper from DPMS. It's not a cataloged item, but it's the upper assembly they make for their ultralite rifle. I bought this assembled. The lower parts kit wasn't complete though. They had everything but the Hammer Spring, a pretty important part. One other beef was that the front takedown pin wasn't milled properly. It wouldn't accept the detent pin, it just jammed up as I was pushing it open. I'm calling DPMS in the morning to have them ship these parts and a new detent pin (which was gouged when I troubleshot the problem). Check out my page below for Pictures!!!

UPDATE:

I called DPMS this morning. They said that they don't normally have problems with the front takedown pin and that they would send me a new one along with the detent that it ruined. They are also sending me the missing Hammer spring. They did ask if I would send them the old pin so they could examine it, but I had already dremmel-tooled it to get it to work. It isn't pretty, but it'll do until I get the real pin. In the meantime, I've got the hammer spring from my DCM gun in my new lightweight.
