So after my little fiascal with the m&p and my awesome luck with the new CZ, I felt I needed something else. The Italian in me decided I needed to get some heritage in firearms.....

It shot awesome - used the remaining hydroshocks I had and 2 wally world value packs...no failures of any kinda, good recoil, sucky trigger, and very accurate. This model (as well as the ones and the new military ones are comming with some polymer parts. I ordered from cdnn a spare parts kit that included all the metal parts for it for $29.99. I still like my CZ better (it seems more solid), but this is one hell of a good shooting pistol.

Good purchase. As you noted it has some polymer parts. When I went through the Beretta Armorer's course they told us this was done for several reasons. 1. To lighten the pistol. 2. Less friction = smoother function. 3. The polymer recoil spring rod was designed so that it can hold a small amount of lubricant and aid in smoother functioning. The replacement part from the factory is also polymer. The metal ones out there are most likely used ones that are still in good shape. On my police force we have had only one of these rods crack or break and it was a metal one. The replacement was polymer. Both will give you many rounds of performance before there is a problem. Don't worry about the polymer parts there are very good.

All the M9's are US made and, IIRC, Beretta stopped importing Italian-made 92's after the Accokeek (SP?) plant was in full swing.

Congrats, Ermac. Something about the M9 marked pistols that is kinda neat. I love my Inox "United We Stand" 92 FS, but I find myself still wanting the all-black, no BS M9 for some reason.

Late '87 or early '88 the US plant started cranking out M9s and has been doing so ever since.
The Italian plant is busy enough keeping up with European and Asian demands but they still import Italian made "Highly Finished" Model 92 pistols into the US in limited numbers.
As far as I know and unless there was a change to Mil-Spec, all M9 pistols are to be produced and shipped with all metal parts though a Navy man did report that some of the pistols in his Ships Arms Room contained polymar guide rods.
The Polymar rods may have been approved as replacements for lost or broken metal rods.

I was told via e-mail by a Beretta Authorized gunsmith that my limited edition M9 was released for public sale because the US Military Inspectors rejected the lot enmasse for containing polymar rods as factory new.
