The Big 5 in my area is advertising a Marlin 1894 .357 for $299.99.

I called and asked for the exact model number and the response was: "1894CH357"

Marlin's website lists an "1894C" but I don't see anything like "1894CH357".
(Apparently the ported option has been discontinued which is fine with me.)

My questions are:
1. Does this seem like a decent price?
2. Do you think this is a special model for Big 5 or just the "regular" 1894.
3. Anything else comes to mind with respect to a Marlin 1894 .357?

Thanks,
Don.

I was in my shop today and there was a ported Marlin .357 levergun with the shortest bbl I've ever seen on one (only takes 8 rnds). I almost bought it but they wanted $460 for it.

:(

ddc - That would be a very good price. Perhaps the H denotes a plain hardwood (rather than walnut) stock, and that might be the reason for the low price.

$406 for a 1894CP? Yikes! I know of one avail. nearby for $380, which is abt in the ballpark.

Buy it; it's an excellent new price, and this is a very fun gun. I hope you reload .357, 'cause you're gonna start going through it in a hurry ;)

It could be a "special model" sold only at Big 5. A couple years ago I picked up a Marlin Model 60 FS at Dunhams sporting goods. Its a synthetic stocked Model 60 with blued action/bbl and Williams Fire Sights (hence the FS designation) The Marlin website/catalog has no record of this model. For $129 I don't care if its the only one that ever sold.:D I've looked ant the only place I find them is at Dunhams.
