Great sites

I have 18 yrs exp. with fire arms, I've done many test with most of the popular cali. out there, I have had a wide variaty of fire arms from the most expensive like the Kimber to the Low end like 22 Jennings. I prefer the Kel tech P32-P3at, P11, I do not belive in over powering Cal. In esence I belive in shot placement, A 32 in the right place using the double tap center mass and one to the head is suficient in a close encounter with the BG, A 9mm, 45, 40 are nice to have but having family members around the house are to resky with over penetration at so close distace.:) :uhoh:Case in point, I am not hooked ont BIG IS BETTER.:neener: :banghead::what: :)

New here , lots of great info . My guns are for self defense , would like to start making the range a regular visit to improve my skills. Thanks Frank

Hello

Hi. I've been occasionally browsing this site off and on. So I decided with my love of older guns and shooting in general, to finally join up. I'm interested in getting my C&R FFL in the near future and may look to the boards for advice.

I used to do some shooting as a boy, but went for a long time without shooting any. Then about 3 years ago, I decided that it would be a good idea to have a gun for self defense. I ended up getting my CHL license and a G19. I've probably put 7 or 8 thousand rounds downrange in that time.

My wife also got her CHL last summer, and we just got her a S&W M&P9c. This was a big deal for her, because she comes from a strong anti-gun family, so the idea of her having a gun took a lot for her to warm up to. She's serious about defending our family, if needed, however. And once she made the decision to get one, she's been really enthusiastic about practicing.

I've never entered a competition, but I've decided to give pistol competitions a try. There's an outdoor range near where I live that has a variety of competitions on different weekends. While I do love putting holes in paper, I think I'm finally ready to do something more interesting...

Going forward, I'd like to add a shotgun and some rifles the collection. Given my wife's background, plus having a toddler running around, it looks like a long-gun safe will have to come first (we already have safes for the handguns).

This is a very good site. I look forward to participating.

Greetings

I joined this forum a few days ago. I have been "lurking" for several weeks. I joined because this forum has some interesting and informed members.

I own several pump and semi-auto shotguns and rifles. My handguns are a Taurus .357 Magnum and several 22s. Once I was a shooter and a hunter. I haven't done either for 18 years. This past November I developed an interest in the 1911. Don't know why, I've never even shot one before. I picked up a Rock Island and I have really enjoyed shooting it. Some folks knock Rocks, but I have had ZERO problems.

In fact, after reading some of the negative stuff about Hi-Points (here and on other forums), I think I'll pick up one of their C9's. I've never owned a 9mm before. I won't be staking my life on the C9. So, for $140, or so, how can I go wrong?

I'm Ironage and I was born too late :)

I'm a 38 year old guy and have been shooting since I was a kid, started on airguns, then .22,then handguns after age 21.I love all types of firearms, from black powder to black plastic and try to never stop learning.I'm a strong supporter of our US Constitution and believe the 2nd amendment should be defended with all of our heart.I belong to the NRA and the GOA and urge you all to do the same,$55 a year for both.I work hard for every dollar I make and dont make much, but still manage this, you can too.

I prefer Glock handguns and Mossberg shotguns for home defense. But I love the wheelguns most of all.Milsurp rifles and pistols also light my fire.

This looks like a great forum,I'm glad to be here, thanks for having me
regards from the Buckeye state,Ironage

Hi, I’ve been a member since Dec. 06, I believe in the right to own firearms and defend my family. I have a CCW and a C&R. I have been actively acquiring a few firearms for the last 3 years. I now own a MAK 90(rifle stocks), Beretta 92FS Vertex Inox, Browning-Buck Mark, Colt Woodsman, CZ-52, JC Higgins Model 31, Lee Enfield NO4MK1, Lorcin L22, Mossberg Model 190 16 ga., Mossberg 500AT 12 ga.w/Copstock, Mossin-Nagant M44, Norinco SKS , RoHM RG 17 derringer, Ruger 10/22, Single-Six, Mini-14, Westerfield M550CD 20 ga., Norinco Tokarev 213. I have 4 children, my 2 boys are still at home and we like to target shoot with their grandpa. I am still trying to convince my wife that there are worse things I could be doing with my time and money.

Hi Y'all, Born and raised in WV in rurel area. Grew up working, hunting, and shooting on my neighbors farm. What a great life though I didn't fully realise it at the time. It took 2 years away from home in the army to realise just haw much I missed it. My neighbors grandson ( same 55 years old as I am ) owns the farm now so still have it to hunt and shoot on. Because this is hill country we can hunt from one hill and shoot deer on another, so we can woods hunt or set up to shoot long range. Those who say all you need in the east is an old 30-30 never seen this farm. I know, for a bunch of years I hunted with an iron sighted model 94. Couldn't figger why my buddys always killed deer hill to hill till I got a 270 also, what a difference.

I spent about a week lurking and reading before I saw this thread. I finally convinced my wife we needed a handgun about this time last year. I got a Taurus 24/7 .40, took her shooting and she fell in love with it. She had to have a gun of her own, and her boss (Police Chief) suggested a Glock 26. I shot it, and liked the way the Glock shot, so I got a Glock 23 and am a happy camper, for now. I feel the itch coming for a long gun, so I will be researching a good quality shotgun and rifle.

Yes I am new to this forum but not new to guns. I collect many styles and calibers. I personally like heavier loads. Have been shooting since I received my first 12 ga shotgun at 15 and bagged a duck the first day on the farm. Many other hobbies but particular Harley's. I just like to shoot recreationally for the stress release and plan to add a few more tools to my arsenal, namely a .45. Live in east central florida and the tornadoes we have had the last 2 days bite.

All About Me

Hmmmm this should be fun.

Well I'm an Arizona Native (not that kind of Native). I'm a caucasian American and many people mistake me for a redneck. I love hiking, camping, off roading, mud bogging and sand sliding. Rock crawling is for people with no fear and no common sense and very little natural equilibrium.

I hunt regularly, my favorite hunt is for Coyote and Mtn. Lion although the last Mtn. Lion scared the heck out of me because we were nowhere near most lion hunting grounds. Just about had a heart attack. But that lion looks good on my wall.

Guns: I love guns, grew up around them Read about them all the time, and am looking for a job that will pay me fifty+ thousand a year to talk about them, sell them build them whatever them!

I am also a big time gun rights activist I campaigned for Jon Kyle (Arizona's gun friendly senator) and J.D. Hayworth this last tragedy. I am a lifetime member of the NRA. I also spend a lot of time teaching good white collar folks that gun owners are not nuckle dragging barbarians.

I hate folks that can't be civilized talking about guns and that think in order for a gun to be worthwhile it has to be a hundred years old, or silver with crazy etching and shoot a hundred pound bullet faster than I care to imagine, or the gun must cause a person physical harm to shoot it i.e. the S&W 500 before they started buffering the springs to keep those horrible double taps from killing folks.

I love my shotguns (Remington 870, Mossberg 500, Remington Spartan O/U) and my Rifles (original Winchester 1894 30WCF. A Mossberg .270, a Mini 14, Enfields ( I own a few military ones) and a Mosin Nagant. I also own an SKS, AR-15 (DPMS), Yugo AK-47 and have pre-ordered my SIG/556 but my dealer doesn't have it yet.

But my heart truly lies with pistols. I love them and collect them, dream about them and drool over them. I am a Sig guy through and through I own four and am contemplating purchasing two more very soon!

Remington Rand 1911 .45

SigP226
SigP220
SigP232
SigPro2340

Berretta Px4 Storm
SpringfieldXD .45
Bersa .380
Glock 23
Rossi .22
Ruger GP100
S&W 686 4inch

Well that about sums me up. I am waiting on my paperwork from the state to teach the CCW here in AZ and hope to teach classes soon! Shoot Straight and hit the white part!

Hi. My name is Mike. I'm from the Philippines.

Early in life I have had a fascination and respect for guns.

My Dad was an NRA Life Member, and a certified police and firearms instructor to boot, so myself and my siblings got a healthy dose of handling, safety and use. He also taught us about responsibility in using them, which is somewhat lacking where I come from today.

There may be other members here from the Philippines as well. but am not sure what region they come from. If I had my way, if it were possible, I would have wanted more exposure and experience to firearms. I recently purchased a new 9mm pistol for myself and protection for my family.

My interest in firearms was put on hold for about 15 years, as I went into other interests, such as computers, business, and other hobbies, but now I've kinda re-discovered my love for it.

Perhaps because its because of the changing times. By law, here, we are allowed a single long and short firearm. The long firearm is either a .22 or a 12-gauge shotgun. Our situation here is different from most of you.

Not only do we have the normal 'bad-guys' in crime, but we have maoist-inspired rebels in the countryside in a number of the islands, mine included, armed with high-powered weapons, in the southern island there are , uh, religious separatists, some of which are affiliated with Al-queda. you get the picture. Fortunately in my region, there aren't any of the last mentioned group, but the rest are there. Still, things aren't as bad as they seem. Most of us get through with our lives without meeting them, but to deny their existence would be unrealistic.

So my renewed interest in firearms is due to more realistic and practical defense applications. Am not here to discuss politics, just firearms and their use and knowledge.

Really, really happy to join. great to know of you.

Thanks :)

G'day from Australia!

I'm four fingers of death, commonly know as 4finger mick. I hunt, shoot cowboy, formal target pistol, combat & IPSC matches and rifle and shotgun matches in various disciplines. If it goes bang, I'll stand behind it! Jack of all trades, master of none, but I'm having fun. hunt with scoped bolt guns generally, but am also into levers. Enjoy military rifles (no nasty semi autos allowed here, so my interests in this direction centre around bolt rifles. Love reloading, casting and 4wd'ing, and all things outdoors.

Just retired from a late start (36years old when I joined) career in Corrections, 58 now. Wife got ill and I couldn't see the point in leaving her and soldiering on, 42years in the workplace, the only part of me that works well is my appetite and thirst.

I enjoy this site, am edging around the blackpowder scene (cartridge BP, not all that interested in front stuffers (sorry, but I'm into virtually everything else!).

Here's me doing one of the things that I like best:

Newbie

Just joined to learn as much as I can about handguns, safety, accessories, etc.

I hunted 35 or so years ago, then got away from it for many years. Now my son got me back into deer hunting and he's created a monster --- at least according to my wife!!! First picked up a Remington 870 12 ga. shotgun so we could shoot trap, then a Remington 7600 pump rifle in .270 for deer.

Now, its time to add a handgun to the collection. :D My other son convinced me a Sig P226 is the way to go, so I'm definitely headed in that direction. My beginner's safety class in scheduled in a couple weeks and I can't wait.

Looking forward to learning and sharing, once I get some more experience myself.

Gun Enthusiast in Las Vegas, Nevada

I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. I have always had an interest in guns, but my mother wouldn't let me have anything more than a bb gun. Since I've been out on my own I've started to slowly build up a collection. I have a 12ga Mossberg 500, A Stevens 22, and I just bought a Mosin-Nagant M-44. I like long guns, but I think its good to have a few handguns as well to even out the collection. Theres a pretty big gun show that comes around every few months and therer always good stuff there. I think the next one comes in March so I have a ouple months to save some cash!!

New Member

I have been out of the firearms world for many years but I'm a licensed auctioneer and from time to time someone asks me to sell a firearm. I won't get involved with modern arms but would like to find a venue for early items. Normally I sell all my consigned items via eBay but they prohibit ALL firearms. I currently have a customer who's interested in having me sell a pair of VERY RARE Civil War era Colts and I'm at a loss to find an on-line auction venue where I can list and realistically reach potential buyers for firearms whose value is in excess of $100K. Any suggestions???
