I´m a Finnish guy..live in Finland:) I´ve been raised with guns. My first gun was an old bb rifle...few thousand shots and few years later got my hands on Remington Nylon 66...year after this my first shotgun Remington 11-87 (left handed version). I´ve worked in gunstore for year and a half and during that time...well temptations were on the long weapon rack and handgun shelf..bought few guns with my salary:) Currently I have only 92FS Beretta 9mm, H&K USP 9mm Stainless, Eccevhia Star?? 9mm, Coonan Cadet .357Mag, Springfield Armory 1911 GI .45ACP, Luger (Parabellum) in 7,65Para original parts, M39 (Pystykorva) 7,62x53R, FN FAL .308Win(Australian version) and a Remington Viper for plinking:)

I hunt small game and shoot quite regulary at local range. I´m very interested about gun mechanics...have a need to disassemble every gun to pieces and see and understand what makes it "tick":) Lately I´ve been working on a pistol holster project for Glock 17. We managed to get the first project ready and the thingie really works:)

I'm not a new member, but an infrequent user. I have not been able to figure out how to post to this board... Somewhat frustrating! It's a private club?

I have a limited budget so I have been obsessed with quality and bang for my buck. I love reloading and have been doing so for two years now.

Marlin 336c
7x57 Mauser. stainless w/ full engraving and georgous walnut carbine stock
BHP
Marlin 39a
Winchester m. 49
Winchester m. 12
Old Model Ruger Blackhawk .357

Anyone have info on light loads for BHP .40 s&w. Rather tight gun. wondering if larger bullets with less powder or smaller bullets with less powder (naturally will require more powder than the larger bullets) is best for cycling the action with the least recoil. The rule of equal and opposite reaction (a 180 grain bullet opposed to a 135 grain bullet) may cancel out the larger powder charge of a small bullet. Much easier to load light for my revolver. What is the composition of the ammo used by the rapid fire hotshots? Can't be "hot" by any means. My guess is that its not standard factory either.

I have manuals, but I have been told to start with the lightest load and work from there. Good advice that I will not avoid, but still curious.

New Guy

My name is John and I'm a newly registered member interested mostly in handguns. In my searches for information about handguns, I ended up here so often, I thought I might as well register. I own one shotgun, winchester 1300 pump, a Taurus Judge (.45LC & .410) Magnum, A Glock 19, A Taurus Model 605 .357, A Smith & Wesson model 642 .38, A Bersa .380 CC, A Beretta Tomcat .32, A Taurus pt 25, A Walther P22, and A Taurus Millenium Pro pt45 .45. I live in NE Florida, and I'm retired AF.

I've been lurking this site for a couple months now, and have finally decided to register to post.

I am 26 and live in Cheyenne, WY. I grew up in Oklahoma/Texas and around firearms (almost goes without saying). I own a shotgun, but have never owned a handgun. My wife is soon to be Sargent in Air Force, Security Forces (which is why I am in Cheyenne) and is getting her concealed carry permit.

Two months ago, our car was stolen from in front of our house. Even though a firearm would not have helped in that situation, it reminded of what I have always known, that the most important job of a husband is to protect his family. That incident, combined with the fact that my wife shoots better than I do and is getting her permit, made me rekindle my boyhood interest in firearms.

This site seems to be filled with a wealth of information, and I hope to learn much.

I suppose that after well over six years, I should make my first post.
Funny; I'm still a "new" member.:D

Gentlemen,
Came here last night and browsed through the site and recognized a few names from another site or two. Looks to be a well experienced and informed bunch!
Am involved and interested in long range and "tacticool" shooting and am in the process of building another rifle for that purpose, 6.5 in bore and not sure what case, .260 or Creedmoor. AICS stock, S&B 3-12 PM...
Hangun shooter as well, Glocks, 1911's, big bore revolvers when I get the chance (.41 Mag)!
Primarily, I would like to thank you for a "clean" site that tries to stay within the boundaries of decorum, manners, and a site that I would not have to worry about pornography and other garbage that other sites have allowed and changed into trash sites. My children could look at this site and not be exposed to that junk.

Thank you very much for a top notch site!
Sincerly,
Scott Freeman

Greetings fellow shooters and enthisiasts, I discovered this sight on a search regarding some corrosive ammo that I had recenty picked up and was beginning to fret about and that I had made a blunder. But after reading some of the necroposts on 8mm mauser, and the fact that I only use it in bolt rifles, I feel relieved..

I reside in the Peoples Republic of New Jersey, although South Carolina is starting to look better everyday for various reasons. I served in the ARNG as a "redleg" for 7 years getting out in 2002, and I also enjoy target and range shooting, as well as participate in something called WW2 reenacting.. My gal is a flaming lib attorney which makes table talk quite "interesting" when any hot button issue is brought up, but thank God she is pro 2nd ammendment..

Once again, it's a pleasure to meet y'all!!

Hello from Republic of Texas :)

I'm new here and just wanted to say hello and good day to all!! Interests include pistols, revolvers, long guns, citizen's rights, etc, etc, and anything to do with preserving our Constitutional Rights. I am also an honourably discharged Vietnam Era US Navy Veteran, currently in the process of obtaining a CHL, and considering an FFL.

Hello everybody,

I guess I found this site a while ago, and lurked for some time before registering. Seems like a lot of good knowledge here, and everyone seems to respect one another.

I just got out of the Army (about 11.5 years, most of it in the 82nd and 173rd for those who are interested) about a year ago, and am about to finish up my AA after this summer session. I like to shoot about everything, but right now my favorite is my RRA Varmint EOP. I just started reloading my own rounds for that not long ago, and I've learned tons about shooting from that, a lot from family that reload, and a fair amount here.

Thanks,

Tim

Dave here from North Carolina, Like the site you guys seem purty nice, and with good info. I'm fixin to buy a Uberti 1885 highwall and am having concerns of which would be the better, the 45/90 or the45/120.. I'll be using factory amo to start, then reload. Love shots at 300yrds. sometimes more if a clean kill is possible, Please help, if any one can. By the way ,It's not a Quiggly thing!!!!!

Hello

I am new here, but I have posted, once. The thread on "Mouser Guns" brought me here. I enjoyed the thread.

I like all guns. Although I don't have many, at all. I've never been able to afford guns. My kids and grandkids seem to come first.

I still have my first gun. My Dad got it for me when I was 7 years old. He got the Hercules 410 double barrel and a case of 2 1/2 inch squirrel shot for $25.00. He later had it bored out to accept the 3 inch shells. I've had it 55 years. It was all I had till I was past grown (when ever that is). Even after getting other shot guns, I still preferred the little double barrel. I could hit a squirrel better with it than anything else. I sure enjoyed squirrel hunting, I wish I was still able to do it. I never really liked any other kind of hunting, although I have done many other kinds.

Btw...I am in North East Texas.

hey, thougt I might be able to find a little info on my luger I just bought. was on another site and read about you and was impressed with what they said. dont have a clue who to ask if anyone can help i'd welcome the help.

Greetings, all. Found the site a few weeks ago and thought I'd sign up. I've been a gun owner for thirty or more years, though I don't get to do much shooting these days.

Things have gotten so hot with the new prez and all, I even went ahead and joined the NRA. Seems like the time has come to take a stand, before all the ground under our feet is taken away and given to someone else. Needless to say, they won't like us hanging around, either.

Hi All - I've been a member & infrequent visitor for about 6 months... so I apologize for the delayed introduction.

While I consider myself experienced/knowledgeable about firearms (I'm approaching middle-age and have had a gun in-hand for most of those years, whether as civilian or my military stint) I'm primarily a "shooter" and have not yet delved into the world of gunsmithing or handloading. I live in rural Vermont... so comparatively fewer restrictions and lots of opportunity to shoot. My "shooting/hunting buddies" are mostly current/ex-military/LE types...with a few good ol' farmboy 30-30 types hanging around. I'm in the middle. I view firearms as tools, but I also succumb the cool "boom" factor often enough :)

My hunting experience has been New England & Down South (AL, TN) as a kid, and Arizona & New England as an adult. White Tail, Mulies, Javelina, Moose, Elk, Turkey, Coyotes (much bigger here in VT) with some varmints now and again.

I look forward to learning much and hopefully sharing what little I know.

Regards

I'm a New Member, Hello

Hey,
Other than a hunting rifle and a shotgun when I was young, I haven't seen a need for a gun until now. I think it's a good idea for every man to own one or two for protection, and I'm at point A. I'm going out gun hunting around Long Beach, and I hope I can find a nice handgun, maybe a Baretta. I know I need to register it, but beyond that I know nothing about what's necessary in the state of California, where I've lived for these past 22 years. I may ask some dumb questions, but I'll try to find my answers in prior postings, unless it means scrolling through hundreds of replies to get an answer.
My name's Dean.
