another newbie

Hello,
I just joined this forum the other day. I live in central VA and only started owning firearms about a month ago. My first one was Romanian made AK. I got a Taurus 1911 coming in the mail. I'm a poor college student so I can't afford to get anything fancy just yet. Either way, just another 2nd amendment supporter who enjoys his (remaining) rights in this country.

New Fella

Hey everyone,

I have been cruising this site for a while and I thought that maybe I should join in and introduce myself. I am 24 and originally from Ohio, but I moved to NY in 2004 for a job. Unfortunatly I waited till I got to NY to get into guns. Either way I am enjoying learning new things and purchasing new guns for my collection. I just recieved my full carry license in the State of NY and have since been practicing with my handguns alot. I own a few long guns and a few handguns. I just added a beautiful Beretta to my collection and am looking forward to getting good with it. I look forward to talking with you all.

Cheers,

SigNY

New member, old shooter

Hi I'm Rich from the great state of Washington. I was raised by people who love shooting, who were raised by people who love shooting etc... My family ran away to Alaska in the '70's to await the apocalypse. I got tired of waiting in the '80's and moved back down here. I did not shoot much after I moved back for 20 years or so. My son (14) heard some shooting stories about me and hounded me until I took him shooting. Hooked again. The firearms I refer to in these forums are either really old (probably mil surp) or really new, got them for my kids (daughter started shooting too). I might have some reloading questions in the future as it seems to have changed a bit since the "70's. but mostly shoot rimfire (love NEAs' .17HMR single shot) at the time. I appreciate all of the good spirited info and help that I have found here. The kids and I refer to it as "THE Forum" because we have found answers to all inquiries here promptly and without (too much) bias.

thanks THR

Hi all,
Joined the forum a day or so ago. I'm relatively new to the shooting game. I've been shooting skeet on a semi-regular basis for a couple months now and have gotten thoroughly addicted. Just purchased my first shotgun as well. Remington 870 express super magnum. Great gun, if I do say so myself. I also shoot a Springfield XD 9mm. I love that gun, as does my wife. I'm currently active duty Air Force, serving as an AMMO troop. I look forward to many long hours and good discussions on the site.

Hi, My name is John and I am living in the great pro-gun state of Montana.

I moved here from Massachusetts:barf: because of too many socialist type laws.

I am interested in amateur radio and politics. I am also the Yellowstone County Chairman for the Constitution Party of Montana.

New guy here. Interested in target shooting, self defense, plinking and 2A. Wanting to expand into long guns with a specific intrest in old/older Military stuff. Other than my Army training I have very little formal instruction and after lurking around here, this looks like a good place to help that some. Dumb questions to follow. :D

Well, let' see... I retired from the USN and the post office (no I wasn't disgruntled). I'm one of those double dippers we love to talk about. My oldest son and I recently started shooting Skeet. We like it alot. I have a Browning BPS (20 ga.), Browning XS (20 ga.) and a Benelli M2 (12 ga.). Additionally, I have a Remington 700 .243(belonged to my youngest son who was killed in Afghanstan), a Kimber Gold Target (my carry weapon) and a Ruger GP-100 (4"). Really life shooting (IDPA/NRA member). I am considering going the reloading route for the pistols. We'll see ... all that equipment can be disconcerting and somewhat intimidating. But I think it's the way to go. I am a Ruling Elder in a local PCA church. Cannot imagine what it's like to live a day without Jesus. All this stuff is cool, but it's just stuff. I like it but I'm not ate-up by it. I just love life. Be blessed.

Greetings all,

Took me awhile to come across this sticky thread..

A fellow buddy of mine, Werewolf, gave me the heads up on your site and I got to say, for as many members you have, and growing, I have been pleasantly surprised at the rational and demeanor in check, I have so far seen.

Really some interesting topics and thread responses, for and against etc., and I like the tone of the entire community.

Basically, I'm a German Shepherd man, 7 so far, but when we have to let go of him, gonna take a break for a bit and travel with the wife.

That's why I decided to get some semi auto pistols, as the wife is scared of the 2 Winchester pump shotguns I have (from my great Uncle) long ago, and she has expressed a willingness to go to the range with me, and when she takes the Basic Marksmanship course, then we'll head to the 2 day tactical course together.

My main gun is a Beretta Px4 Storm 40cal S&W and I love it..

My other gun, is a Sig P229R CT 9mm which I hope to move my wife up to from the 3rd gun I got for her to start out with, a Sig P232 SL 380 ACP.

I'm also a private pilot, some 1200hrs, and either fly Single-engine high performance aircraft or some various aerobatic planes, which is my favorite joy ride, free from the crowds and radar.. lol

I'll see more of ya inside..

thanks for the welcome :)

i carry my Springfield 1911 (full sized frame, 4" barrel) with golden sabres  sometimes i find it hard to conceal, especially in summer because of skimpier clothing, so then i carry my makarov 9mm :D

it's great to hear of other women who carry!

welcome to THR

Thanks for stopping by and saying hi. We all look forward to hearing about new members. Tell us a little about you self. What do you shoot?

well, primarily i shoot my carry weapon -- Springfield 1911, but i also have great fun with my AK-47 (which my husband is now refinishing for me), my husband's cetme, M1 Garand, M14.....way too many to list

i like practicing precision shots with our various bolt guns

as far as a battle rifle, i like the cetme best (love the power of the 308 round)

prefer AKs to ARs (though husband's custom ARs are changing my mind a little on that -- he's a gunsmith)

we just got an M1 Carbine.....my valentine's pressie to him :D and i CANT WAIT to shoot it.

ummm dunno, like to try out every new firearm i encounter, but have some faves as pointed out above :)

Ahhh yes escape that place. I live out in the burbs so its a different story for me I can go to the city for school and stuff and not have to live there.

Mind if I ask where you like to do your shooting at?

pistol-packin-wifey,

Welcome to THR!

According to your resume' , you are going to fit right in. :D
I only see one problem, maybe two, then again perhaps the rest of your resume' lists shotguns.

I mean everybody knows tm you gotta have a shotgun to make duck gumbo. :)

Gots us a 1911 totin' lady with AKs, Garands ...and has her own in house gunsmith...
Heckuva deal if you ask me.

Steve

thanks for the warm welcome all!

sm: and i do shoot shotguns now and again.....to keep in "shape" if you will, in case i have to use our house guardian :D but i do confess they aren't my favorite to shoot, well maybe at real close range....like to see what i can blow huge holes into

Wasz: we used to shoot at Bullseye before it closed, now we mostly go to a friend's house in WV. he has his own range :D

Henry: oooh i'm going to check out that site right NOW!

uh huh, I was checking on you and them shotguns.
I'd mention a certain "pet" shotgun of mine, then again stick around and you will find out what my "pet" is. :p
