Please accept my thanks both for your service in the Army as well as your dedication to duty continuing into law enforcement. I myself am in the Air Force (I know I know) so I DO know some of what you experienced as well as appreciate it even moreso because of my own experiences and what I've witnessed you amazing soldiers do. Again my hats off to you thank you for all the sacrifices you and yours have done this goes also to any other veterans on this site.

new guy

I'm from Minnesota and have been a hunter, fisher and shooter nearly all my life. I served in the US Army from 59-62 in the Army Security Agency. My shooting consists of rifle, shotgun and pistol. I reload for all. Am invloved in teaching my grand children the joys of hunting and fishing. Calibers rangefrom .17 HMR to 30-06. Most recent purchase is a CMP M-1 garand vintage 1943. Haven't sshot it much yet. The local range in still under water from spring floods. I will be using this site for reference work. thanks to all who participate and share.

Hi
I've been reading THR for a few years, it's really the best resource I've found for what real people with their heads on straight think about guns that I've found. I say this as a pawnbroker without much hands on experience who has been buying and selling since 06. I feel strongly about gun rights at the same time that I don't want to hand them over to people who are going to go off half-cocked...it's hard. I had to stop selling in my store for a while because the gang bangers were so drawn in, but I think I've got a handle on it now.
What I want to do now is practice, get good at it, and collect, so this seems like a good place to start. I enjoy what I've learned so far too much not to play with the toys :D. I'm a woman, don't offend easily, but will call you on b^(($#it. Treat me like one of the guys and we'll get along fine.

Hey y'all. I'm relatively new to handguns (recently purchased SW 64 and SP101) and wanted to pursue my first SA handgun for CCW. While searching I kept seeing references to THR forum and they all had good information. So, I thought the best thing to do was join (I don't like to lurk), learn what I could and share what I can.

Hello from NC

I have recently turned my interests to handguns and the reloading of their ammunition. I have centered my attention around Glock, Sig Sauer, Browning and Kimber. I have been impressed with handguns from all the above. Being ambidextrous has presented some interesting hurdles to overcome.

Hell, my name is Will. thehighroad is a great site. Very informative and stimulating conversations. Look forward to interacting.

Greetings everyone, I am a long time board lurker. I read a lot of boards on the internet and come across this one the most. I figured it is time to stop being anti-social and get to know you guys. Also, I am a left handed shooter.

I have a small collection of firearms:

Handguns:
Glock 23
Sig Sauer Mosquito
Taurus PT 917C
Ruger LC9

Rifles:
Olympic K3B w/A2 Upper (in the process of overhauling to flattop, BUIS, Burris Fullfield Tac30 1-4x scope, quad rails, etc...should be done in a week or two, I'm very excited)
CAI Romania WASR-10

Shotgun:
Mossburg 500 12ga

Hi everyone,

Sean in Pensacola, FL. I owned a couple of cheapo firearms years ago but due to certain events (read ex-wife:banghead:) got rid of everything. Finally got settled into normalcy.

I got around to making my first purchase last Saturday, an XD-9. Waiting out the 3 day rule and will pick it up on Thursday. CCW class starts Friday evening and I plan on going further by taking all of the advanced courses offered.

Next purchase will be a shotgun. I'm thinking about either the Mossberg 500 or 590 to keep in the bedroom.

I feel really good about finally taking the initiative to get moving on this and avoid being a victim. I'm sure I don't need to go into my personal feelings about politics, the Constitution, etc. I've read enough posts on here to see that most members are on the same page and this site feels like home.

Now my problem will be fighting the urge to go overboard on acquiring stuff. Being the typical guy I love quality, quantity and and technical details. So many cool examples of the shooters art...........so little time and money.:D

Hi :) I'm Alicia I've pretty new to the world of guns and stumbled on this site over the last few days when trying to decide on my next handgun since I feel ready to graduate from my "learner" one.

Until very recently I've been cool with the right to gun ownership for others but didn't want any in my home. A couple years ago I called the police when a suspicious guy was on my property and came knocking on my door (I live in the middle of nowhere so it creeped me out) and one of the first things the police said when they got here was "You got a gun? No? Well...getcha one" I still resisted - 5 smallish kids in the house and all that. But we've been getting quite a bit of activity on the property by people who don't belong here and about 2 months ago someone tried to break in. So I decided a better idea than being unarmed was to get educated on safety and get armed. I'm now taking my concealed class tomorrow so I can even tote the thing around. I've come a long way...

Hello all, despite my moniker Tess3499 (that was my dog and that was her birthday), my name is Blake and I'm a female Blake. So to all you boys out there in your 20s with MY name, don't be thinking it's a boys name. I had it first. LOL... okay so now I've gotten that off my chest.

I had no feelings or issues with guns until I started dating my boyfriend (now fiance) four years ago. He handed me a Kimber .45 and said "shoot." Shoot? I didn't know how to hold it. Despite showing me how to shoot and my awkward stance, I shot it. I got my first grouping at about 35 feet and I asked "did I do okay?" "Okay?? You've never picked up a gun, you're a little thing and you're shooting a .45 and you got a nice grouping." So that was my first time I shot and I was hooked.

Since then I've gotten my concealed carry license (3 months after shooting for the first time). We've been to Front Sight and took a 4 day defensive handgun course, have shot in other local matches, and I just recently got my range safety officer certificate. I have a Springfield XD .40 and my own Kimber .45 (which my fiance bought me for my 45th birthday -- get it... a .45 for my 45??).

I'm very passionate about our Second Amendment rights and I always try to educate people about that right. I also would eventually like to teach women. I've taken several of my friends to the range and I work with them and they seem to respond positively to another woman teaching them.

So that's me and I'm glad to be here.

Newbie from SC

I am normally a Ruger revolver fan and cruise the Ruger forum, but recently my interests have turned to carry pistols, like the Kahr line. While researching CCW and Kahr I kept coming across references to THR, so here I am. Lots of info and good people here, and I am sure I'm going to learn a lot and hopefully contribute some too. Great to be here...

Hi Alicia. I have 6 children and my youngest's name is Alisha. As you well know, kids and firearms can be a problem, but your emphasis on safety is the #1 attitude you need to foster in your home. As much as you can, after you've learned the basics of safe gun handling, introduce your kids to the safe handling of firearms and how to shoot them correctly and carefully. Above all, keep your guns locked and secured so only you can get to them. Welcome to the forum - you can learn a lot from fellow gunners here at THR.

hi everyone,

this is my 3rd or 4th attempt to say hello. I keep getting email notices to introduce myself even though I have done this exercise several times already. I shoot a lee metford 303 and just started reloading so I can match as best i can the original loads for this gun. It's been great fun to shoot so far. I also have a browning pump .22. The same model i started to shoot when i was about 8 years old. I shoot a light handgun as well. I have hunted but i now shoot targets almost exclusively. Looking forward to hearing from some other antique shooters. I also shoot black powder, a caplock.

Hello, all. New to the site and kind of new to firearms over all. Always have loved shooting whatever a friend had but finally bought myself my first 9mm carbine. Hi-Point 995ts. Just coming here to hopefully learn more and see my collection grow. I think my next purchase is going to be a 1911 of some sort, but we shall see.

Hello all, just joined THR and it seems like a wealth of information. Hopefully I can contribute some of what I know as well.

Hello, new to the site but not to the info.Been reading quite abit from here through links.Mainly a hunter (wife says I must be vegan, since the freezer isn't full)but love all guns.Mostly Levers and Wheel guns, kind of a John Wayne wanna-be thing I guess.

I'm a big supporter of 2A rights at the fed. and local level.Hopefully I can contribute something,as I've seen I can gain alot from here.

just joined !!!

hey guys, have seen numerous references to THR while searching on the 'NET over the years and thought I'd join the forum to support.
retired federal leo in Canada, enjoy the usual reloading, shooting, hunting, fishing and camping, plus reading etc.

It would seem that, now more than ever, the U.S. freedoms regarding firearms are under more attack than ever before (and now more than ever, you folks need that freedom)!!!

I can tell you that, north of the 49th, many of us do envy what you've been allowed and also know that 'registration' programs and such have absolutely 'No' effect on reducing firearm related crime.

To me a firearm is no different than a hammer or a fishing rod, it is merely an object that can be used as either a tool or for recreation.

I appreciate being able to review and learn from all of your input and trust that matters don't get any worse for all of us.

all the best to everyone

rod :D

I've heard about this forum, read several of the topics when searching for info across the net and finally decided to join.

I'm an instructor with the RWVA/Project Appleseed (I'm on their forum with the same handle). As well as serving in the US Army, I also enjoy target shooting, hopefully progressing into some competition here in the future.

I've been searching questions about different guns and this forum always seems to come up, so I thought I'd better join.
I live in the KC area. I recently exited the Army, and I collect lots of different types of guns. I also fish like crazy....mostly for catfish. I'm currently going to college on my GI Bill, fishing, and shooting bits of my collection as I get the chance.
