Greetings everyone.

Hey everyone, I have been lurking here for a LONG TIME.

I've been a gun owner since 2003 but have shot guns throughout my life. Born and raised in Western NY (Buffalo) I lived in Dallas for 6 years and Albuquerque, NM for a year. I recently moved to Oklahoma City. (yes, I move a lot).

I look forward to joining this community and am no novice to online forums (aka, I'm not a troll). Have to warn you though, I have a funny personality and you may just come to want me to stay around.

Oh, and I have a habit of drinking a lot of whiskey.
Forgive the crappy pics, many were taken on cell phone!

I currently own a:

20" Mossberg 590A1 (ghost rings/speed feed).
Pistolet Makarova 9x18 of Bulgarian make (early 90's GREAT SHAPE).
Smith and Wesson 686-6 6" - My baby. (within 2 weeks of ownership I put 600 rnds downrange)

I also drive a big scary 80's town car, so any LE on here, don't pull me over, I'm a good guy! (Got pulled over 6 times in one year in Albuquerque, never got a ticket.)

Don't look now but there is some scary dude holding your pistol !!! :what:

Welcome ~~

Haha, my mustache is twice as thick now and I lost 20 lbs. so I'm only getting scarier!

Thanks for the welcome.

I'm not new, but pretty much I am since I'm starting to actually use THR.

My home forum is CalGuns.net, I'm an avid poster there (something in the few thousands).
Great place for people even outside of California and a life saver for people fighting the good fight there.

But I don't plan on staying here forever (only been here two years for school), so I figured I should start talking on other forums too.

Welcome!

I'll caution you that there are those here that have and will show pictures of guns that you will want. This may cause sudden irresistible urges to buy more guns. In preparation, you should find a good local gun store & report back here if they have an acceptable selection.

Welcome to the forum. I have been here a while, but I don't post
a lot. There are a lot of very knowlegeable people on here as well
as some postmeisters (those who post to see themselves post)
Enjoy the forum.

Welcome. I'm like Trex and don't post much either. Yep, that 686 is my favorite of what you're showing too. Nice 'un. Maybe next week's acquisition will become your favorite, or the next, or...

Or am I the only one that quadrupled the collection since joining the forum?

New guy chiming in from FL

Hey everyone,

I'm really new to guns. So new, in fact, that I haven't made my first purchase yet. I was born in raised in NJ (2A haters!) and have been living in sunny South Florida for almost 5 years now (2A lovers!).

Over the past few months, I got married and my wife and I moved out of our apartment buiding. I always told myself that once we moved into our own home, I wanted a gun for home defense. I had never mentioned it to my wife until about two months ago, jus before we moved. It went something like this:

Me: "Babe, now that we're going to have our own place and starting a family soon, I have been thinking about the possibility of, umm, getting gun. Would you be cool if I did?"

The Mrs.: "HELL YEAAAH!"

So, that convrsation went far more smoothly than I could've ever wanted.

Over these past few months, I have been reading a lot on the internet just to get a general overview of things, talking to my gun-owning friends/relatives and of course, shootin'! I have been going to the range and renting a few different handguns to see what I like. My first purchase will be the GLOCK 27. I am going with the sub-compact for CCW. I figured if I am going to learn how to shoot and buy a gun, I might as well go all the way and be able to have the ability to defend my wife and myself once we leave our house, too, so CCW here we come. I think that the second purchase will be for the house only, a S&W .357 Magnum. Forgive me for not knowing an exact model name/number, but a big one. Not a little snubby. My dad has one and it would be cool to a) have a semi-auto AND a revolver and b) pay tribute to the old man by getting the same (or at least similar) gun.

Well, that's me. Through some gun-related internet searchs, I ended up on this forum more than a few times. I found it to be a little more enjoyable to read than other forums. The average post here seems to be a little more intelligent than on some other boards. I look forward to reading, posting and learning a little something here on THR.

Happy (and accurate!) shooting,
Tom

Hello guys and gals.

Figured I'd go ahead and introduce myself here on THR and join in on the discussions on this board.

I live in southern Arizona and have been a fire arms lover since I was old enough to handle a .22cal rifle. I am very lucky that my father took us kids shooting whenever we had the chance, mostly just plinking with .22 rifles and his 12guage shotgun. When my birthday came around I would always ask for a rifle, or if we were broke I'd be happy with Mom baking a cake and an afternoon of target practice.

Now I'm hooked on the FN FAL rifles and Saiga shotguns.

This looks like a great community and I hope to contribute where I can.

New to the forum. I have seen links to threads on numerous searches and figured I would check it out. I am a 2112 (Precision Weapons Repairman) in the Marine Corps. Currently at Quantico.

Greetings THR

I shoot and reload for various weapons, my favorite being a recently rebarrelled Garand. I'll soon be adding an AR-15 to my gun locker. I've read THR posts for advice many times, but finally joined as I have a question to post.

See you at the next leg match! :)

Hello to all, My name is Richard, but in here I go by KODA. I'm 60+ yrs old and have had guns most of my life. The other day I picked up my first 22 rifle, a Rem. 597. After asking what I felt was an honest question about self & home defense using it, I enjoyed getting my “you-know-whats” busted, LOL, mainly due to my unorthodox thoughts on defending & not killing.

At least one ol' boy out there spoke from the heart & experience and to that, I have to say, "Thank you, Sky!"

It is good to know that there are still honest thinking, real American’s out there who aren’t afraid to speak your minds. My only question is, “You can Talk the Talk, but can you Walk the Walk?”

God bless all of us, Semper Fi, ‘66/’68

When I die, wrap my ashes in the Stars & Bars and allow let me slide into the Mighty Miss on the West-Bank, of New Orleans!

Hello everyone, I am just getting into guns after being interested for a long time, and ran across this forum in a search for parts for my first shotgun - specifically an 18.5" barrel.

I have a 28" barrel H&R Pardner Pump (all black), and have shot 15 shells worth of bird shot through it. I broke it down and cleaned all the brown mud (I'm guessing what passes for gun oil in China) out of the chamber and trigger assembly, cleaned the whole thing inside and out, and re-oiled it with Rem Oil and 3-in-1. Super easy to break down and re-assemble, and the hardest part in the reassembly was getting the bolt started that holds the stock on! I've even done a simple mod to make it have a 6+1 capacity. Looking forward to learning a lot, and getting to know new people on here.

I am planning on getting my concealed carry permit soon, so I will be looking for advice / opinions on a good quality concealable handgun in the near future.

I have been a moderator on a forum for a massively popular facebook game before, and enjoyed the interaction, but now I'm looking forward to just being a member and general newbie, learning about firearms of all kinds.

I know the gun I mentioned above has been both praised and ridiculed, but hey - I'm just getting my feet wet! Look for a new thread from me regarding my experience in obtaining this, my first "real" firearm. It was a riot.:D

Hey Guys !!! Here at THR for the first time !!!

Hi all,

I guess I should take a minute to introduce myself. Well I am David Charlton and I am an airsoft freak. I have not bought a new gun in a week.

I have been on the site for a couple of days but have not really started posting until I joined here. I am very happy to find a forum with other mature GBB gun builders and collectors like this one. I own a Echo1 Task Force Black Full Metal MOD5 A5 Airsoft AEG Rifle. Well its the right place to discuss about latest weapons. I want to gain knowledge and help people in any way I can. Hope you'll cooperate with me.

Thanks, thanks and thanks,
- David
