Hey all!
My name is Fred and I'm from Sweden. I just recently found an interest in target shooting with a handgun. After doing some googling regarding the pistols themselves I found this forum. So far everyone has been real cool with my dumb newbie questions :)

Hey, my name Rick, I ve been a member for couple of weeks now and have really enjoyed this site. I'm kind of into the more traditional guns(revolvers, pumps, bolt actions, leverguns,1911,etc.)and I am getting into more conceal carry types lately. My favorite gun i own is my savage model 110 30-06. Ive also been getting interested in some of the sass stuff, but dont own any gun for it. I would like to some time soon get a sa revolver and looking forward to hearing some opinions about the different manufacturers.

Hi, My name is Bob, I am an NRA member. I live on a small farm in central Indiana. I have a simple 150 yd. range so I try to shoot as often as I can. I have .22LR up to 7.62x54R (Mosin Nagant 91/30) The last rifle I purchased was an FEG M85 new in the box for $600.00. Sometimes you just get lucky. I am anxious to meet all of you. Thanks

Good Afternoon. My name is Kirk, I've been lurking for a long time. I've not yet had the occasion to post. Thanks for all the good discussion and useful information.

Hey im new, obviously. I have a few guns, Taurus melenium PT140, Ruger Security Six .357, Colt Government .380, Colt M1911A1 U.S. Army .45, Remmington 870 Express Super Mag 12 gauge.

My gun knowledge is very minimal, so i look foreward to help from others.

Hi everyone I'm a fairly new gun nut. I'm an avid golfer and love Corvette's especially C6 models. I bought my first pistol an XD40 for home defense. I then got my conceal and carry permitnand got a Beretta PX4 Storm SC. I have since gotten a Browning Contour .22 for my wife she is recoil sensitive. Since I joined my gun club I bought a Sig 522 for plinking. Next up is a Glock 34 for USPSA. I've posted a couple things and thanks to everyone who has passed along their opinion and knowledge. I look forward to learning more and contributing to this forum. Nobody can own only one gun.

Hi everyone!!

My name is Erron,
I'm 35, a daddy, and married to an awesome woman! We live in the good ol' midwest. I'm a Navy vet and currently serving in the Air Force Reserves as a KC-135 Hydraulics Mechanic. I'm into RC Trucks and Electric Helis, and the possibility of FPV for RC planes.

It wasn't until Christmas of 2010, that I ever though I would purchase my first firearm.
After several years of here-and-there shooting opportunities, I got so sick of the awkward feeling of asking to shoot other peoples guns and not having my own, especially when going to shoot clays with the family in Oklahoma or with other squadron members. This last January, I finally went out and bought a Benelli Nova 12ga. I love it! It was 6 months later that I bought my first rifle. It's a 1925 Mosin-Nagant. I love it too!
Okay, now I'm hooked. Going for a WASR10 very soon.
I think it's very wise to "do my homework" on a particular weapon system before I decide to buy it. I've done that every time and it works out great. :) I'm happy to be on here with you all and look forward to the wealth of knowledge on here.

-Erron Hogue

Another Newbie Checks In!

Greetings from SC! Long-time shooter, LEO, Hunter, Scout Dad, and all-around good guy, very humble, but I try not to brag about that. Been a long-time member of BladeForums.com, I have a modest collection of knives; mostly higher-end users, no safe queens. I also have a modest collection of bullet-launching devices, mostly incalibers starting on a .3 or a .4 .

My claim to fame, a 22-point buck that missed non-typical B&C by 4 1/8".

Greetings from the Fountain City!

I've been referencing High Road threads for at least four years without joining, so the first thing you can surmise about me is that I'm a procrastinator. Perhaps a consequence of the slower pace enjoyed here in south Georgia.

I'm a 25-year-old Georgia native and a recent graduate of Columbus State University. I majored in criminal justice and minored in anthropology and psychology. Since 2006, I've worked for a cultural resources management firm (DOD contractor at Ft. Benning) as an archaeological illustrator. Been shooting air rifles and pistols since I was 11 or so, but no firearms until I turned 21. (An overprotective Jewish mother doesn't afford one many opportunities to incur [potentially serious] bodily injury.) Adequate range time is difficult to manage with the economy and ammo prices as they are, but when I get a chance, I put a box or two through my modest assortment of pistols: Glock 22, Glock 27, Springfield XDm, Ruger LCP, Ruger LC9, and Taurus 605. Don't own any rifles... yet.

On a personal note, much of my spare time is devoted to Latin translation (yes, it began in Catholic school), patronizing the local movie theater, and experimenting in the kitchen (no, that's isn't an allusion to a meth lab). I'm also a political junkie, pestering forums with my classical liberal (libertarian-esque) politics.

Hi, I'm a 63 yo retired general contractor in the Midwest (SW MI). I have a Boston Whaler Outrage 22 I trailer around the Great Lakes and Gulf of Mexico to fish and enjoy the water. I do some woodworking, particularly cypress and cedar outside furniture, and have a '49 Chevy I took apart to rebuild and haven't gotten back to as well as a '70 Chevelle that I did restore. My fire arms are currently a Ruger Magnum break barrel .177 air rifle, and a S&W .38 Police Special my Dad traded his army-issue Colt .45 for to a Navy guy on the ship coming home from WWII. Trying to get some info on that .38 Police Special is the reason behind my registering here.

Thanks for your attention, I hope I can add to the discussions here.

Hello everyone:

I am primarily interested in the right to bear arms and the safe enjoyment of them. I found this sight while looking for cannon parts as I have had back burner plans to build one and now I have renewed interest in the subject.

I am also a pyrotech working with fireworks professionally with my brothers and company. I have been trying to get a few of the crew to produce black powder commercially for black powder enthusiasts and civil war re-enacters, but the primary obstacle is liability insurance. They were making a 100 pound test batch last week at the lab, so that's a start.

I own just a few guns, mostly shotguns and 22's, nothing automatic. I once designed a functional full auto conversion for a Mac-10 that my brother owned, but I declined to actually convert it for legal reasons. He had someone else do it, I was told, but I don't know for sure.

I have only gone hunting a couple of times in a long time, but I am considering starting now up since my kids are now older.

I am getting ready to purchase my first shotgun, a mossberg 590.
Right now I am an out of state resident in Maryland and trying to have it shipped to me.
I learned that I need to have it shipped to an authorized FFL Dealer and without state ID, they will not give it to me. I wish I knew if that was true. Otherwise, I'll need to get a Maryland Driver's License this week.

Hello everyone. My name is Ed. I have recently retired and am trying to enjoy a life long hopppy--shooting. I also like to reload.

I am new as of tonight to the THR Forum. I see alot of THR blog postings in the web searches I have made, and figured it was time to join. I have been shooting for about 10 years now, and own a variety of firearms. I love shooting, and my friends know it; I am the first person my friends ask in regards to purchasing, inspection, price, and finding firearms for them. I even clean firearms for my friends and family, and have taught several people how to shoot, operate, and clean their firearms. I have gained alot of knowledge over the years, and hope to learn more from the savvy individuals on this forum.

Hey King, I do woodwork also as a hobby. Make repro antiques such as furniture & muzzle loaders. Just finished turning a part for a spinning wheel that is probably 150-200 yrs old. Are u into antique furniture & blk. powder?
I live in St. Maarten. Just moved & too far away from my wood shop to make it a spontaneous thing anymore & miss it.
We have a gun club here on the Fr. side that I shoot at but mostly with muzzle-loaders. Keep a browning .380 for self protection but a blunderbuss is good enough as it will take a door off.
I reproduce antique furniture that takes down without tools. Are u into that type of wood-work?

Hey everyone. My name is Shaun and I love to target shoot and also clays. I just recently got ba k into shooting after a few years off. I have been looking at 9mm pistols for sometime now and really want one.

Hello from SC!

Hi my name is Lee. I am a novice firearm enthusiast that really enjoys punching paper and studying older firearms ie, shotguns from the 30's and 40's, rare pistols and new models, and "assault type weapons". My favorite weapon is my commonwealth pattern FAL, I have performed much of the work on it transforming the weapon from the classic C1A1 to a much more accurate and updated version getting 2 inch patterns out to 500yds. I also enjoy my Romanian M59/66. I cut the grenade launcher and threaded the barrel to accept a KDS stabilization system. This was more necessity than practicality as the gunsmith I asked to perform this torched the grenade launcher off and then threaded the barrel so the birdcage type compensator was listing to port.:fire: But with the help of an excellent Pennsylvania gunsmith she now is holding the same grouping as my FAL.:) My eye site is deteriorating so I I have a lot of fun just shooting my old Glock 17. I enjoy cleaning friends firearms and helping them figure out how it works and is broken down and re-assembled. I thank you for allowing me to join your group and look forward to meeting all of you. Keep your powder dry and give em' the cold steel!

Hello from the Arizona/Sonora, Mexico border!

Hello, just thought I would introduce myself. I was born and raised not far from the Mexican border, on the US side, in the State of Arizona, with the 'Estado de Sonora, Mexico' and what is now the largest port of entry in the State of Arizona just a couple dozen miles away. I grew up in a small town which afforded me plenty of opportunity for target practice, and I learned firearms skills and safety from my father, a former Sgt. in the U.S. Army from 1969 - 1975. His father was a Navy Leuitenant JG aboard a Destroyer, which was sunk in the Pacific theatre during the Second World War, sadly I do not know the name of his vessel, or the information reguarding it's sinking, my father seems to not recall the details, or they just never spoke about it, I just know he survived but somehow hurt his back in the sinking of the ship and had back problems for the rest of his life. He was also a Doctor, even whilst in the Navy. I keep his Naval ID card with me, issued in 1942 I believe, it lists his CO but nothing about the vessel.

Anyhow, I love living in the great Sonoran Desert, and I love taking photographs of the beautiful Hawks and Bobcats, and all the other unique and amazing wildlife, such as Gila Monsters, many people live here their entire lives never seeing one in the wild... I saw three different ones last year alone!!! heh, one was a baby, well a juvenile, about 6-8 inches long, very cute, the other two adults, one quite large.... and I haven't gone a year without seeing at least one Western Diamondback Rattlesnake in as long as I can remember, hummingbirds nest under my porch some years, I have documented hummingbird babies from the day the first egg was laid, to the day the second egg was laid, and then from when they hatched to when they flew the nest(mama hummingbird built a fairly low hanging nest in the Ivy that year) so the wildlife is plentiful and diverse.

I never much cared for killing animals unless I had to, and I only ever went bird hunting several times, I enjoyed it, and enjoyed eating the dove as well, tasty but not my thing, I would rather shoot targets.
I do have quite a few firearms, I carry a Smith and Wesson model 669 as my everyday regular concealed carry weapon. I have some great old rifles and pistols that belonged to my grandfather, heirloom type stuff, all still in great firing condition however.I have also since (over the past 10 years or so) bought myself a Ruger 10/22 Carbine, an AK47, as well as most recently, a German GSG-5 (HK MP5 look-a-like in .22 LR.) I am thinking about purchasing an M1 carbine and have some questions about that and magazines and such but will save that for a more suitable forum.

I figure some local wildlife pictures will make a good introduction, as long as viewed in fullsize of course :)
I include one of my favorite Snake Shots, An angry Western Diamondback Rattler, about 5 ft in length, and somehow I managed to snap the shot right as he flickered his tongue, so his tongue is sticking out in the photo if you enlarge it and look closely, note the. Note the pattern along his back, as well as the classic Pit Viper shaped head, with the large venom glands behind the eyes. Now an indicator for a Western Diamondback is that black and white alternating striping at the tip of the tail right before the base of the rattle (growing up here means I still freeze immediately whenever I see something that mimics that black and white striping in nature, subconscious survival instinct I suppose), and contrary to some people's beliefs' one cannot tell the age of the snake by counting the rattles.... the snake will get a new 'button' or section to the rattle each time it sheds it's skin, and also in this rough desert terrain, sections of the rattle break off all the time.... in fact the largest rattle I have ever seen, was on a snake not much longer than 2 - 2.5 feet, and I have seen FAT 6 foot snakes with tiny little rattles. I include also a picture of a very very large rattle on a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake that was about 3 ft. I have chickens and the coop and food within attracts rodents which attracts snakes.... we have alot of King snakes and other predators of the Rattlesnake here as well.

I was hoping to be able to create a Gallery or Personal Album on this site for photos of my firearms only (no animal shots without permission, I promise ;) )

That is all, just saying 'Hi'. Please pardon my rambling.

2nd and 3rd pics: Very Large rattle on a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake I caught and removed from my chicken coop (gently and slowly) and released far away from people in a Huge National Monument.
