Hello to y'all!!
Came here today to find out how to open my Barska biometric (batteries died without warning) and got an answer that worked. Not what I was expecting but often the end results do justify the 'how' ;-))
I am an avid shooter and collector. Also collect and practice throwing knives. Also fly airplanes when I have the time. Currently building a personal shooting range with trap/skeet on the farm. Nice to meet you!

Hi All,

Enjoyed posts on this forum over the years. I returned to the wheel gun last night with a new 686. Pure joy and smiles. The tally last night was 98 rds of 357/38 vs 60 rds 9mm shot through a G26. Even with plugs and new muffs, I was amazed how loud a 357 can be inside.

I decided to join not just to talk guns, but to preserve liberty and justice for future generations. But let's talk some guns! A little background on me, my future father-in-law decided that we should bond, to the range we went. My experience back then was 22 rifles and 410's. Never once had I discharged a handgun. He was a gentle man with a great sense of humor... as he handed me his bear gun. At 7 yrds I managed to hit the bottom 3" of a B-27 with his Ruger Vaquero chambered in 44 mag. My bother-in-law got his hunting rifle and he left me his bear gun... but somehow my wife ended up with it.

Intrested in learning more, and just picked up,a FN that I hope to learn more about.
Thank you.

Good evening,
I grew up with firearms, love to shoot. I am somewhat of a mad scientist in the fact I like to build and experiment. Just got into reloading and building ar style rifles.

Good to see all of you join up.

We try to offer a uniquely civil and rational home to folks dismayed by the chest thumping and immature and irrational behavior allowed on too many forums. Please help us keep THR a friendly and family friendly place for you and your family by letting staff know when you see behavior counter to the pledge we all took when whe signed up by hitting that little "Report" link at the bottom posts.

Hi!
This thread is a place for new THR members to introduce themselves.

Tell us a little about who you are and what kind of gun stuff you're interested in!
Hi I'm Bob and have just joined. I'm into b/p revolvers shot guns and .22 rim fire rifles.

Morning, all.

I am an Appalachian/central-West Virginia boy relocated to the Outer Banks of NC - call it my mid-life crisis if you like. Lifelong shooter since I was about 8 years old, NRA-Certified Basic Pistol/Personal Protection Instructor for about 20 years now, and about a year ago obtained my CHP Instructor Certification in NC shortly after arriving here. I worked for a sporting goods retailer for 10 years (as a computer programmer and tech - weird job, I admit, but I loved it), which is when I *really* started getting more heavily into firearms and learning the ins and outs. Attended the SHOT Show in 1994 (if you're a shooter and this isn't on your bucket list, it really should be).

I generally EDC either a Glock 19 with Meprolight sights, a bone-stock S&W Shield .40, or a NAA Guardian 32. Next handgun purchase will be a S&W Shield 9mm for the LSW, after which I'm looking at a Glock 26 for myself.

I enjoy precision rifle, shooting skeet, and taking long walks on the beach, which is one of the compelling reasons that I moved here. ;)

Looking forward to meeting folks and swapping info!

Hello,
I am fairly new to shooting and have just about completed my first AR-style build (nothing fancy). I am here to learn as much as I can and hopefully gain some insights from those more experienced than I. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Hello from the PDR of NY! I'm 49 and grew up watching reruns of Bonanza and The Rifleman with my older brother, plus the occasional western movie. My brothers had BB and pellet guns and used to shoot empty soda bottles when they were still glass. I even bought my own as a teen, one that looked like a .357 revolver. The idea of guns never intimidated me. Owning one, though, was never on my radar until last year when Hillary was campaigning and I decided to exercise my Rights while I could! I joined tge NRA. I learned of an indoor range in the area (just over an hour away), and we bought a Ruger 10/22 as a "starter" gun for its economy, flexibility, and reliability . We never got to the range to christen it, though, seemed time never allowed, plus we felt uncomfortable going in completely cold. Then about a month ago, I got to spend a couple hours at a coworker's place plinking. I also got to shoot slugs from his 20ga shotgun. Gotta say, I was hooked! I went home, put a few things on ebay, and just bought a Henry H001. I was looking at a Rossi .45, but .22lr is so much more economical right now. There's just something about old style lever action rifles...

We will be joining a local sportsmen's association soon so we can develop our skills. Once we get up to speed, then maybe something bigger. Either .357/38sp or .45lc. I do have a 50th birthday coming up! :)

Meanwhile, I read and learn as much as I can!

Hi everyone. I am from the Republic of Massachusetts. Got my LTC last fall, due partly of a long time interest in shooting and hunting (have bowhunted for years) and for fear of losing my right to bear arms in this state. My wife also obtained hers last year. She absolutely loves to shoot, so we now have something we enjoy doing together. We already own a half dozen handguns, including a couple of revolvers. I have absolutely fallen in love with revolver; don't know why, but those things are awesome. Most recent purchase was a 357 mag. After a lot of reading, I realized I really need to learn about reloading in order to take advantage of the 357 mag. Have read numerous books and articles and had a friend show me how to reload on his press. He has been doing it for about fifty years. Now I am slowly pulling together all the equipment. This forum continues to pop up up on every reloading related search I do, so I thought it was time to join and ask some question.
Since getting our LTC, we have joined the NRA, GOAL, a sportsmanclub, an indoor gun range and we are on the waiting list to join a rifel and pistol club. Oh, and the next purchase is a CZ455 Varmint, so we can get into rifle shooting at 50 to 100 yards (pretty much the limit in these parts).

Thought I'd drop in and say Hi - haven't been here in several years, and decided to see if my old login worked - apparently it still does! Glad to be back.

Hi all from Italy!
I am the new boy (close to 3/4 of a century) in the block. I live in Italy, few miles from the Austrian border.
Here I hunt chamois and roe deer.
My arsenal:
-Weatherby Vanguard Sub MOA in 7 mm Rem. Mag.
-CZ .30-06 carbine (Mannlicher style stock)
-VOERE 7x64 mm rifle. The maker, that disappeared from the European market to reemerge later on, produced nice rifles, inspired by the Weatherby style
-Benelli Crio Comfort cal.12 shotgun (not used in the last 2 years)
-side by side 16 ga.+7x72R combo with hammers; it belonged to my late father in law. The 7x72R is a German cartridge dating back to 1930-1935, performing more or less like the .30-30.

Hey guys my name is Stu from Delaware ,USA avid hunter/gun collector ( I like everything but prefer the classic blued steel and walnut ) I own shooting range in Maryland where we have an outside pistol and rifle ranges out to 500 yards and an old school sporting clays course with over 50 stations.

As a new person here, I enjoy my firearms hobby. All aspects, building, collecting, shooting, design, sporting clays, quality. They are great fun that my boys and I enjoy together as a family.

Hi Everyone:

New member from Central VT. In the past I was more focused on polymer pistols of the CCW variety, but now I've become more interested in revolvers of the Ruger type. I'm also getting interested in Winchester lever actions.

Nowadays I enjoy slow-firing on a quite outdoor range early in the morning without the hype of double taps or defensive drills (it's cool if you're into that though). Am also thinking of doing NRA silhouette with small bore rifle or cowboy lever action.

Very happy to be here, and I'm looking forward to learning lots from you guys.

New to the forum, can't believe I've waited this long to sign up. I'm a 20 year old college sophomore from northeast Nebraska, and grew up around guns and hunting. Currently have a Ruger 10-22 that I'm starting customize, a Henry lever action .22 magnum, a Remington 700 in .243, a Browning X-Bolt in 30-06, and a Stoeger 3500 12 gauge. Mostly interested in hunting long guns, but I wouldn't mind getting into pistols a little bit. Looking forward to learning from everyone here.

Hello all. I have lurked here some and finally joined. I picked the high road because anytime I had a generic or "what if" question about firearms there was always an answer on the high road. I am a retired LEO with 30 years of service. I currently work in the private sector. I am getting back into all things guns and this is a good place to do that.

Hello from yet another lurker turned member. I like wood and steel but will admit to owning at least one firearm with plastic on it. I enjoy reloading and casting for everything that I shoot and I shoot everything I own. No room in the safe for queens!

Hello all,

I'm new to this forum, but not new to guns and shooting. I did a lot of shooting, mostly indoor range paper target shooting with handguns and some trap shooting too, in my 20's, but got out of the habit until just recently. I've been having a lot of fun rediscovering one of favorite hobbies again. My introduction back into the hobby/sport, unfortunately, was finding out about the dreaded "Roster". I was flabbergasted at how many handguns you couldn't buy in California now, and that this has been going on for years. All the new models I've been reading about in recent gun magazines and seeing on t.v. shows were not available to residents of California. I'm still shocked and very disappointed by the whole thing. I recently joined the NRA and the CRPA, and I was looking for a good resource for various gun questions and information, and I found this great forum. Anyway, I am quickly trying to get up to speed with what is going on in the gun world nowadays, and I am so glad to have found you all!

Hi - this looks like a mostly polite forum, so I signed up.

I'm a gun owner. Constitutionalist. Mostly libertarian. Huge supporter of the LGBT community and equality for everyone.
