Welcome back, DAdams. It sounds like you're well acquainted with this place. I think it's one of the more civil forums.

Greetings groovy gun guys and gals! I'm a retired Kentucky woman whose been shooting since I was 8 years old. I really love guns, and I have a variety of them. I am a little different than most shooters in that I don't have a 22 handgun, a Glock, or a 1911.
Well, I'll forgive you for not having a 1911 provided you at least have something in .45 ACP. ;)

Hello everyone

64 years old, coming late to the shooting sports. I acquired a long gun license in July 2014 when it came time to decide what to do with dad's two long guns when he no longer needed them. Joined a club in 2016 after deciding to take the restricted/handgun course. In Canada we have separate, mandatory training for long guns and handguns (referred to in our regulations as restricted guns, and we can only use our handguns at an approved range).

User name is a nod to an irrational desire and recent purchase of a Desert Eagle in .50AE. I think it might have been the only one in Canada at the time.

Enjoy rifle shooting but the challenge of pistol target shooting is my happy place.

Cheers and best regards to all!

Welcome 50AEagle! Congrats on your big boomer! They are all sorts of fun. I hope you will enjoy your time here, and hope you will read the THR primer when you get a chance. If I have it right, some draconian restrictions were just withdrawn up there, so we are glad for that news and hope things are on a better trajectory now.

Howdy!
I'm an avid handgunner that lives in Western Montana. After a few years of primarily shooting Glocks and 1911s, I've decided that 2023 will be the "year of the wheel gun" and have purchased a handful of S&W revolvers since Jan 1.

With five new S&W revolvers on hand, I've quickly learned the current state of affairs with their quality control and turnaround time for warranty service. So...looks like I'm going to have to learn to be an armchair gunsmith to avoid long wait times, fret, and worry.

The revolvers have been a lot of fun (despite the problems) and I'm going to stick it out for a while. I'm looking forward to learning from what I read on THR, and asking some questions from time to time in a hope to gain from the long experience of others.

BTW, my avatar pic is of my first real-life squib load. Brought to you by Ammo and More in Stevensville MT!

Welcome, @TacticalJanitor! We are happy to have you and your experience join us. You should be able to get some useful information from the revolver group, and we hope you will enjoy hanging out with us. We like to keep things simple and helpful. Hit the THR primer when time permits, and good catch on that squib!

New member here in Wyoming mostly bolt Rifle and Wheel Gun type but branching out to try Semi-Autos last few years, Reload so's I get my bullets kinda extra special just for me. I'm a hunter for food type but have got some good heads during my life that either got in the way first or were way to slack in pickin a hidie spot to snooze. I have ate a good amount of the animals on the North American continent that crawl, walk, swim or fly in my life just to see if they tasted good, some really didn't.....

Hello, @footwart and welcome! Some of us had the great good fortune to grow up catching frogs, catfishing and plinking. It's good that you found us, and I hope you will enjoy interacting and sharing your experience. Please read the THR primer and make yourself at home.

Hello,

I’m a new member here, from the Great State of Texas. I’ve utilized this forum for years and decided that it was “high” time I joined so that maybe I could add to the forum and possibly help a person or two out.

I’ve been around firearms since as far back as I can remember (over 40 years), with strong influence from my father. However, that time and experience doesn’t exempt me from learning something new everyday in regard to firearm function, safety and etc.

My passion is single action, big bore revolvers, in particular, .45 long colt, .454 Casull and an occasional .44 Magnum. With that being said, I enjoy all other types of firearms as well and as of recently, I have recently been interested in lever action rifles, chambered in .45-70 and .444 Marlin. As far as brands, I would consider myself very fond of Ruger and almost loyal to a fault!!

Thank you to those who take the time to read this post. I look forward to utilizing this forum to gain more knowledge and hope that I can add to it by sharing my experience and my own knowledge of firearms.

Later,

Cody

Thank you. We live near the Gulf Coast, between Galveston Island and Houston. As a crow flies, about 10 miles from the coastline in a relatively rural (for our area) town called Santa Fe.

New member here....Eddie from Kentucky. I've lurked casually on this site for years, but feel the need to join now. Following the recent death of a relative, I have inherited an assortment of firearms, ammunition, and all sorts of odd lots of reloading components and equipment. The current prices of factory ammunition make me cringe, so I've decided to take up reloading, and of course have plenty of questions to ask the experienced reloaders of this community.

By the way, I have a good friend just down the road who has been an avid reloader for more than 50 years, and he's guiding me through the process, so I'm not completely at sea. But I'll have a lot to discuss nonetheless. So look for me on the reloading forum! :)

Welcome @Savage30L! Reloading is great therapy and a good way to get the most from your sport. Personal guidance is best, but there is a lot of info on tap here. Please read the THR primer in the general gun discussion section and make yourself at home.

Hello everyone,

Glad to be part of this forum. Been reading things here for awhile but initially joined another forum because I was focused on BP loading and cast bullets. The other forum was untenable for me because the mods allow political discussion and endorse a group of people that constantly post extreme views. Being retired military and coming from a family of various law enforcement organizations and military, I can't tolerate the disrespect shown to these groups. I was glad to see here that discussions like that are not allowed here and we can all discuss the hobby and lifestyle in an agreeable environment.

I mostly focus on reloading for my Rem 721, M1903A3, M1917, M1 Garand, M1888 Trapdoor and 1874 Sharps. I am currently trying to see how they perform with various powders. Blessings to you all. Tom

I am sorry, but you have to shoot 6.5 Creedmoor to join up here. No obsolete cartridges allowed.

Naw, just kidding! Welcome @Chief TC! We are delighted that you found us and our vibe works for you. There is enough anger and acrimony elsewhere. We try to focus on our mutual interest and maintain a respectful tone. There is lots of wisdom to share and we do our best to be thoughtful and kind so egos don't get in the way. Check out THR primer in the general gun discussions section, and I hope you will enjoy the experience.
