New here not new to reloading, hunting, fishing and the great outdoors. Grew up in farm country, went to Woodstock 1969 at the age of 15. 1973 drafted into the Army to fly whistling ****cans. Dodged that and was able to get into the USCG where I spent 21 years. Was attached to the Army in the mid 80s for stuff. My second to the last unit was Fleet TRA Group GITMO. Attached to the Rosevelt Battle group to provide various training. After the SHTF went in country to do some more stuff. After several months returned to FTG GTMO where I made Senior Chief and two days later was Commissioned CWO2. Left FTG and was transferred to USCG HQ the great puzzle palace for the USCG. Retired in 95 April 1st and worked for the state of MD for16 years left that FU job and went private industry. Finally retired in 2020 and now every day is a weekend and a holiday. I do as I please, when I please, do where I want and will not be politically correct. Also, I will tell you are full of it when it is deserved.

Welcome to THR, @dobedo ! We are a gun-centric collection of folks from every walk of life. The challenge these days is to benefit from the experience and wisdom of others while exercising the good manners our grandmothers taught us. Please check out the THR Primer entry in General Gun Discussions section and I hope you will enjoy your time here.

Hello and welcome from ND
Welcome @rocirish ! It's a friendly place here with plenty of gun experience to share. There are many firearm communities on the net, but we try to distinguish ours by mutual respect and consideration. It isn't easy these days, but we stay clear of politics, religion and other alienating things so the info is not obscured. Please read the THR primer and settle on in if that works for you.

Well, I reckon if you're happy we're happy for you! Check out the THR Primer when you have the time, to help understand our core values. We try to be respectful and helpful, so don't be bashful!

Greetings! New here and feeling my way around the site to see what all is here and reading some threads. Have been a hunter, trapper, angler, reloader, guide/outfitter, rancher and LEO. Retired now and trying to get use to being able to do what I want...or maybe I should say what the boss wants. Thankfully she hunts, fishes and traps. :) I am interested in rifles, shotguns and handguns, and reload for all three. I have hunted in all of Canada's western provinces and northern territories, as well as many of the western US states, Europe and several African countries.

Not much of a forum person, but will contribute when I think I have something that is worth saying.

Thank you for checking in, @Makwa ! Your experience and expertise will be appreciated. We try to make the best of such resources and keep a civil tone here, so look forward to your participation. Check out THR Primer when you have a chance. We are happy that you found us.

Welcome, Phil! We are happy to hear from you. We try to operate a mutually beneficial and respectful community, but thoughtless words are all too common in this day and age, so please bear with us. If you have a chance to read the THR Primer, you will see that we eschew politics, disparagement, and the anger they seem to evoke. I hope you will find education, amusement and fellowship here.

Greetings folks. I'm Jamie.
Old guy, but new here. I've been lurking and reading over the past year and appreciate the shared knowledge and information.
I'm a "mostly" retired RN (ER/ICU). I couldn't find where I've posted on here before, so I think this my first post...
I handload (been using a Dillon 550 since around 1990 and a Lee single stage since the mid 1980's).
Being mostly retired I shoot a couple of times a week, primarily handgun.
I have a love for revolvers, especially old Smith's, but have embraced Ruger's LCR's in .32/9mm/.38 spl and .22.
Since my EDC is a G19 RDS the LCR's aren't too much of a stretch.:)

I'll get back to reading. Thanks for having me.
Jamie

Thanks for the introduction, Jamie! You should feel right at home with this crowd. Check out the THR primer when you have a chance, and pull up a chair. You are among friends.

Boy, this is WEIRD. Turns out that I joined THR in May of 2006 but never made a post until today, June of 2023! I guess I've just been all over the major discussion boards but somehow THR slipped between the cracks.

Anyways: learned to shoot in the IDF infantry 1986-1988 and came back to the States in 1994 to California where I enjoyed shooting at the Ojai Valley Gun Club.

Circumstances allowed me to move to Arizona in 2012 and now I enjoy shooting as often as the weather and budget allow.

I enjoy collecting and shooting Israeli weapons in particular but my own a variety of modern and vintage guns. If any of you guys/gals have an Israeli weapon, ammunition, etc. and you need a translation of the Hebrew I'll be happy to help...

Welcome and I could be wrong but that somewhat looks like an area off of E Perkinsville Road in Chino Valley.

I sent you a private message.

Howdy Qtrmstr, Thanks for the welcome. I'm familiar with Perkinsville Road but my favorite off-road places to shoot are Doce Pit, Contreras Road and the Paulden gravel pit, in that order. I only go to Perkinsville when shooting with one particular friend in Chino Valley who likes that area.
Will respond in a few minutes to your message, thanks for reaching out.
Steve
