Long time Listener (reader) First time Caller (posting).

After lots of reading I chose to buy my first rifle a rem. 700 based on much of what you all had to post.

I came to the conclusion based on all that I read that yes Savage arms may ben the best bang for the buck, but model 700's are still the best bang...

Howdy

i'm new alright, just joined today. Got my first firearm as a young Marine Corps avionics tech in 1970; a replica 1858 Remington Cap n Ball 44. that seems like a hundred yrs or so ago now heh.

next i got a 45 -70 trapdoor Springfield replica and shot it 'til my shoulder was numb. later i had a 38 special, a 357security six, then a Colt combat commander i had worked on for accuracy and ambidextrousness (is that even a word??) anyhow i'm left handed. now i have 4 blackpowder revolvers and a nice 10 guage percussion cap shotgun all reproductions and live with my daughter and son-in-law who is a real prince, in Iraq now with the Marines doin air wing stuff.

uh... live in California... will add more if i can think of it
thanks :banghead:

oh yea, i did 4 in the Navy and almost 4 in the Guard too. they say the memory is the first to go :)

Hello everyone....

Hello guys! My name is Ruslan.
I'm new at this forum, but I'm not "new" with this subject. I live in Michigan.
I do Olympic Style Pistol Target Shooting (Free Pistol and Air Pistol).
Also I like to shoot from my SIG 226 9mm :)
What is bothering me.....Last Olympic medal in Free Pistol 50m was won by USA National Olympic Team Members in year of 1964
My goal is to change this situation! I believe, USA MUST SUCCEED in this discipline some day!
This is my goal and my project : www.midwestacademytsusa.com

I'm looking for participants and supporters of this project!

Hi all
I like all guns particularly the long range rifle. Have had CCW for 20 years
so the handguns have an excellent purpose as well. I enjoy hunting the big deer in the mid country and offshore fishing, especially big tuna in the gulf.
I did 4 years doing the nasty for the Army when I was younger, work in construction management at present.

Newbie Here also

Hello everyone
I came across this site looking for some information on Black powder hunting. I think I have found what I was looking for. I hope you all don't mind me picking your brains with some questions. I am planning on hunting next B.P. season for the first time.
I live in Ga. (transplant from Colorado) been here for 11 years now.
I'll be 55 this Feb. If I'm not fishing I'm hunting so I don't have much time for other hobbies. OH! I forgot the honey do list that keeps getting longer and longer.:banghead: :cuss:
So Thanks in advance!:)

Well, I'm not quite a newbe, but I just realized that I haven't signed in here, yet.

I've been shooting for fun and food since I was 5 years old. I got my first gun-powder gun at 9yrs and haven't looked back yet. I don't have many guns, but I enjoy those I have. I've probably given away more guns than I own, right now.

I'm into 06, 8x57, black powder rifles, pistol and 16ga shotgun. I'm in the (slow) process of building a 12ga (.73 cal) slug thrower on a CVA base. I want to try to get the smooth-bore to make one hole at 100yds with 437.5 grain (1 oz.) bullets.

I don't own any pistols, because FirstInLine and I jointly own all the handguns in the house. I was told that and I learned early on to say "Yes, Ma'am!"

I reload for everything I have and a few I don't. '06, 8mm, 9mm, .357, 16ga, 12ga (don't own one,) 25-06 (don't own one,) 32-20 and .45 ACP (don't own one.) I build powder horns, .45 acp flashlights, possibles bags and bore inspectors.

My hobby, right now, is kids. I drive school bus because I love doing so. The kids keep me alive when the old shrapnel pain gets too bad.

Hi all, I am a student at the Great Lakes Maritime Academy in Michigan. I am really into hunting and shooting. I especialy like shooting older military bolt action rifles, and sporting clays. Nice to meet you all.

Howdy...

I'm new to the board obviously, but not new to gun message boards. I am an ex-army mp, did six years, in Germany, Ft. Ord California and Ft. Clayton, Panama. Been into guns since I was a kid, but never got to shoot. It wasn't until the army that I got to taste the flavor of shooting. Been addicted since. I am in particular, an HK nut, but also like Glocks, Sigs, and in the rifle side, am quite fond of Armalites. I did own an HK SR9 that I shot real well. I am looking at buying a JLD PTR-91 next.

I am sometimes argumentative, but just ignore me when I get that way.:scrutiny:

HI

Hi, everyone, I'm Chris. My mother never let me have a sucker-dart gun when I was young, so now I'm a full-time retail worker that's trying to teach himself to shoot straight. I have a Daisy Legacy  and Rem 597 22's for my plinking, a Yugo SKS for the fun shooting, and Sigma 40 for my close in practice. Also have an M&P 40 laid away to replace it. I've found a lot of good info here, and have no doubt there's more to be found.

Hi There,

I am a new member, not too conversant with all the ins and out of this sort of forum, but am happy to join in. I live in Cornwall, England and am a longstanding member of the Lands End Shooting Club. I have a collection of rifles, ranging from Lee Enfield bolt action to Marlin and Winchester underlevers. My latest project is to get hold of a Browning or Marlin underlever that has been converted to use extended box magazines, so anybody who has come across this arrangement please get in touch. I am just the right side of three score years.

All for now,
Mike;)

Full Introduction

Ok... I have been posting for a while but never officially inroduced myself.

My name is Bill I am almost 30 and have been shooting on and off since age 6. I lived in upstate NY (outside of Rochester or outside of Albany) for most of my life before moving to MD (3 years) then to VA (1 yr). While in Albany I met up with a NRA Training Councelor who helped me become an NRA certified instructor. I started slow and now teach a few classes a month. That is not to say I am a great shot because I am not. I have tried hunting, but failed miserably I am looking forward to try it again. I also re-load shotgun, pistol, and rifle.

As far as what I shoot... mostly guns that go bang, but on occasion I will shoot airguns or paintball guns too.

For a day job I design and create contact centers, this includes establishing training, designing the telephone menus, and everything you could possibly think about when calling a 1800 number.

My name is Ken and im from Ohio.Im a hunter and fisherman.Married with 2 step kids 19 and 17 and 1 child of my own he's 12 and his name is brady.Wife is kelly and kids are justin and amanda.Ok got all that done. Now on to this .This week in ohio was gun season.I havent went gun hunting since 1992.I have diabetes real bad with very bad feet.Anyway i went everyday... morning and afternoon. On thursday afternoon at 4:15 a 8pt buck walked out 55 yards from me, i was shooting a Winchester model 12-12gauge pump.I hit that deer right in the shoulder watched the deer run into a swamp(well its what we call it it,really its thousands of small 2 to 3 inch round trees and 4 foot of water).Guys and gals i couldnt find that deer. I searched for 5 hours in the dark and 3 hours next day and nothing.Where i shot the deer i found a huge pile of hair i mean meat hanging off the hair and still nothing.Well anyway i hunted friday and saturday and saw nothing.Ok last day of gun season sunday afternoon at 3:30 a doe walked 30 yards broadside of me,.. but since i was second guessing myself and my gun i switched to my Model 37 Ithaca 12 gauge pump.Same thing alot of hair and right into the swamp.Well needless to say it was the worse week of hunting ive ever had in my life.Im 38 and been hunting since 13.I couldnt find the doe either. To understand the swamp you have to get down on all fours to get through it,and even then you damn near cant.I dont want to give up on those deers do any of you have any suggestions on what steps i take next? And what steps and things i can do better, we have a 2 day deer gun season on dec 16th and 17th and i dont want to let this happen again. Now i know i should move to a new spot but these deer come out of that swamp and come out into a open field to eat and my tree stand is just in the perfect place. Also you can Instant Message me at .....Kendale68 anytime you see me on hollar at me id love to meet other hunters gals or guys...ok later Ken

Just thought I'd say hi

Hey everyone, I'm new here. Just thought I'd drop by and introduce myself. My name is Joe and I'm 20 years old. Although I've been a gunnie my whole life, I recently started to get into the shooting sports. My collection right now is limited to a New England Firearms Pardner 12 Guage break action shotgun (my first gun) and more recently, a Rock Island GI 1911A1 which my mom bought me about a month ago (I love it). I plan on getting some more very soon. I'm thinking of either a Sig P226 or a Glock 22 for duty (I'm planning on becoming a cop soon) and either an M1 Garand type rifle (my dream gun right now) or an AR for rifle target shooting.. My mom wants a Glock 17 for target shooting too, so I think my collection will be growing some more soon :)

I'm pretty new to the shooting sports, but I'm very much interested in getting involved in all of this, and I enjoy it very much. Anything you want to know, feel free to ask. I also have a myspace (like %99 of the people in my age group  ) and it's www.myspace.com/silentwolf486 in case you want to know more about me.

This looks like a nice place, so I'm definitely looking forward to getting to know people here :)

Please allow me to introduce myself

Thought I'd say hi. I bought my first rifle after getting interested in WWII-era weapons. I went looking for a Lee Enfield .303 rifle but ended up with a VZ-24 Mauser. Later got a Yugo SKS. My first new rifle was a CZ 550 FS in .270 Win. I shot my first deer with it (a 4-point buck) over Thanksgiving weekend on a trip with my 73-year old father. Recently bought CZ SP01 9 mm. I seem to like Czech weapons. The most fun shooting IMO is at clay targets, though. My shotgun is an 870 but one of these days I guess I'll get an over-under. I'm still interested in WII era weapons and eventually would like to acquire a Garand and a 1911.
