Hi All,
Just an old retired Coastie, Finally bought a companion to my old 45 Cal (M1911A1) - like me, it is getting old. It is so well used and so loose that it can make ka-chinking sounds when its in the cabinet and no one is touching it. But it still shoots reliably and it works, and I can take it apart, clean it and reassemble it in the dark, but it IS OLD. So I got a highpoint at a gun show - $180 Brand new. I had never heard of them, and it seems OK. A US made 9mm for $180?? I liked the price I bought some ammo at the gun show, too, and one out of 5 or 6 in the whole box misfired. I was not very "up" on 9mm semis or the ammo, and I called Highpoint - GOT A HUMAN - first try! He asked me about the brand, the load - number of grains. I had 2 boxes, one was 7.45 and other was 8.20 - he said the try the other - call me back. I did that - shot all 50 and not one jammed. Well.. that's my 9mm Noobie story from a Noobie on THR! That is NOT much difference (7.45 to 8.20 - weighd them myself - they are what they say). Does this sound right to anyone? Or is the other box just crappy old ammo? Both are Magtech - and I have used Magtech with my 45 and never misfired that I remember (it IS usually less expensive ammo - money is tight sometimes but when you want to practice, you want to - or you NEED to!). Glad to be here.
Y'all take care! I'll be around.
Richard
