eddiememphis, we are pleased to meet you. There are good learning opportunities here, and we are constantly learning new ways to do things. We are glad you introduced yourself and came out of the lurker locker :D

Hi, I'm Alex. I am primarily into revolvers and lever guns. My first gun was a Taurus PT111, but now I carry an inherited S&W 27-2. Along with the 27-2, I also inherited a 1914(? I'm not sure) S&W Hand Ejector, and a Remington pump-shot 12g. I mainly joined here to get as much information about my grandfather's guns as possible. So, hi folks!

Welcome to THR, Alex. You should be able to find good info on the guns you inherited, and it is a friendly neighborhood. Now that we are seeing a bit more ammunition on the shelves, it should be possible to enjoy those guns a bit more. Thanks for the introduction and hope you will like it here.

Hello! I'm a retired engineer / IT guy / photographer than finally got my permit and first gun early last year. I really enjoy not just the shooting but the reloading as well. I've been on many forums but keep coming back here and is usually the first place I check to start my day. I find the information here to be honest, civil, and accurate - props to the moderators for keeping this a great place!!

Rich, welcome and thank you for your financial support! We are delighted that you have joined the ranks of people who understand the responsibility as well as the challenge and enjoyment of the shooting sports. We have a group of amazing folks that help to make this community a positive force at a time when gun owners are often portrayed negatively in the media. We look forward to a long and mutually rewarding association. Thanks for the intro, and for helping us help each other.

Hi all, I've been lurking for a while since I started back up on some reloading recently. I was able to procure a used dillon 550 with 6 heads/dies and have been swapping them out with my caliber die sizes. I have a few rifles and pistols, some of which have been passed down through a few generations including but not limited to: Savage 99F in .284win (dads gun) 12ga savage pump (grandpas gun) 30-06 Mauser (father in laws gun) other calibers currently are 22, 223/5.56, 9mm, 32s&w (short and long), 38s&w, 30-30, and .410. Currently looking into molding my own projectiles, bow fishing setups and traditional fishing in my spare time. Thanks!

WesternColoShooter, welcome to our corner of the internet! Thanks for the introduction. We hope you find useful information here and it sounds like you have a wealth of experience to share as well. Come on in, maybe check out the THR primer in the general gun discussion section, and enjoy!

I own and enjoy rifles, shotguns and pistols. I don't shoot competitively, but love punching holes in paper at various distances and breaking clays. I am a Christian, husband, father, grandfather, old Marine and American who loves God, my family, my country, my Corps, firearms, motorcycles, and fishing. My Cajun wife and I live near Houston, but are Louisiana natives. We have lived in other states and overseas, but Texas has become home.

I heard about this site on one the other forums I belong to and finally decided to join. It took me a while to get here, but I made it.

Welcome Jarine88. We are only as good as our members, so are pleased that you decided to join up. We try to keep things simple and friendly, so we can offer a friendly venue in a world that seems increasingly hostile and polarized. We hope you enjoy your time here.

I am good with that. I don't like to make waves. I am here to learn and perhaps share from my 30+ years of firearms experience.

Welcome, Dougx! What are your interests? We are glad you found us and hope we can benefit from your experience and you from ours. Have a look around don't be shy about asking questions. We were all new here at one time.

Hi!
This thread is a place for new THR members to introduce themselves.

Tell us a little about who you are and what kind of gun stuff you're interested in!

Hey guys,

I'm Russ and I'm from the land down under.
My passion is deer hunting - especially Sambar but I am looking forward to hunting the Northern Territory next year for Water Buffalo.

I own 2 centrefires, a Zastava M70 .458WM and a Winchester M70 Synthetic Matte in .338WM.
I load my own ammunition using Aussie ADI powder and Woodleigh projectiles.
I use the 550gn in the .458 and the 225gn in the .338.

My favourite cartridges are;
.458WM
.338WM
.300 Weatherby
.303 British
And I have owned rifles for all these cartridges.

I look forward to getting to know you all and from learning new stuff - and hopefully I can help others when I can.

Thanks guys and chat soon!

Cheers,

Russ

It's always a pleasure to hear from our friends in Oz, Russ. Thank you for the introduction. Most of us have not hunted game larger than a 75kg whitetail, but we do have safari veterans as well. Welcome aboard. We can use your expertise!

Hi, my handle is LJ and I hope that the username I have chosen is not too presumptious because I feel that I will forever be just a Learner Driver on this forum.

I hail from the land of Oz (Australia/downunder) where we have a huge range of introduced pests to hunt, and as a consequence we usually have a range of calibres to use.

One of my sons recently bought me a Ruger RSI in 250-3000 in very good condition (knowing that I had liked the look of them for many years).

I have been searching the internet for loading info as it is a 'new' cartridge for me and I came across your fine forum which has such a wealth of knowledge that I thought that I would put up my hand to join.

My earlier experiences with 25cal have been with the 25 Myra/Copperhead, the 303/25, and the 257 Roberts, so now I have a cartridge that seems right in the middle of that lot.

First exercise to enable feeding of the Ruger was to get some cases (not available locally of course), so we fireformed some 22/250s (seemed to be the only option ) and that is where I am at atm.

Welcome to the group, LJ! We are delighted that you are joining us, and as I noted a few posts back, we enjoy our Australian connections. It sounds like you are busy with pest control and have plenty of pests that need controlling. We are seeing more invasive species all the time, from burmese pythons to Asian flying catfish, and we wonder what someone was thinking by messing with mother nature this way. Anyway, thank you for the introduction and I hope you will continue to enjoy your affiliation with us.

Howdy been a member on some of the other forum for a while figured I'd check in and see what y'all are getting up to

Hello. New member, a little less than 2 months.
I'd have sworn I introduced myself back then but apparently forgot.
From behind enemy lines in NY.
I shoot mostly pistol and PCC matches but also some 3 gun when I can find it. Also some tactical rifle and shotgun.
Seems like a good group. Looking forward to some good advice and information.

Zack856, pull up a chair and settle in. it's just another bunch of hangar pilots remembering the good ol' days and trying to make sense of a very perplexing world. We still like to think we can learn a thing or two, and we pride ourselves on civil discourse. We are glad you found us, and hope we can be of mutual assistance.

Sparks25 welcome, and thanks for the intro. You don't have to go through the front door to participate in our little soiree, but introductions indicate a good upbringing and it's always good to know a bit about our newest members. We like to focus on our common interest in firearms, and discourage disrespectful exchanges and rants. Many of us are at an age where we tend to wander off topic or sound tetchy, so we have moderators who do their best to keep things on track. That improves the signal-to-noise ratio and there is plenty of helpful information that gets shared.
