Welcome to THR, rhodesengr! You should feel right at home here, and will find a lot of information in the reloading, handguns and competition sections. Please check out the THR primer in the general gun discussions section and settle in.

Welcome.

Yes, as I'm learning, this forum has a very active reloading section (this section can be slow, stale and, frankly, boring on other forums IMHO) with many knowledgeable and helpful folks.

I find myself spending much of my "online time" here lately.

Hello everyone! I'm a new member and relatively new to shooting in general. As with everything I do, once I started I went all in. Actually, it has become a family sport and my 21 year old is pretty damn good. My wife and I go to the range at least every two weeks and I am wanting to get into competitive shooting. We have amassed a pretty nice collection ranging from 7.62x54 all the way to .380 and I have recently begun reloading. I have a Dillion XL750 and the Lyman American 8. I am a ROOKIE but have been able to reload 9mm using various bullets and charges and have learned a ton along the way. My gun forum experience has simply been getting taken to different sites when researching questions. I noticed that this site in particular seemed to pop up more often and decided to join. I should have done it sooner. I have experience with forums in general and always liked to participate in computers/electronics sites when that was a hobby. It still is, but guns/shooting have now taken over. I love it and am here to meet new people and gather knowledge from them. I'd like to think at some point down the road I will be able to give back to the community but I am a long way from there. Again, I am a rookie. I have a particular question regarding Beretta's customized by Langdon but will look for a post to piggyback onto or start a new one.. I look forward to getting to know everyone!!

Welcome! Can't help but wonder about having a P5ycho on board, but trust that it is a play on words or inside joke. We are pleased to be a resource for you and hope that you will help others with your knowledge and experience, however recent. Please check out the THR primer in the general gun discussions section and enjoy!

Howdy peeps. Took awhile but we're finally in. Just a short intro. You can call me boonierat. I'm in my early 60!s and been pulling a trigger or letting an arrow fly for at least 50 some years. Welcome aboard, Boonierat! Glad you are on the mend! We can all use a little therapy, and we are happy to add your experience to the knowledge base. Please check out the THR primer in the general gun discussions section, and settle on in!

Hi!
This thread is a place for new THR members to introduce themselves.

Tell us a little about who you are and what kind of gun stuff you're interested in!

New old guy here. New to gun ownership have a lot of questions but I will read more than I post
Nearing retirement in the anti-gun state of MA from a major defense contractor who I am growing daily to despise. Nice 40 year run but we are growing tired of each other daily.
I have no friends with with guns so I am an island and I tend to overthink things so if ask seemingly stupid questions, that's my excuse and sticking to it. I don't plan to be a range rat or enthusiast just to be proficient to protect my family if need be.
I recently bout a Taurus G3c as a combo carry/home defense. I know it's not ideal for either but for a while it's one gun with an anti-gun spouse

Welcome, Greatwhitewing! We all started somewhere, and eventually we found each other. You may find that getting proficient with the G3c is not so bad, and you may enjoy rimfires or other types of shooting some time in the future. Meanwhile, we are happy to have you on board and hope to learn from each other. Check out THR primer in the general gun discussions section and make yourself at home.

Thanks for the welcome. I can see there are some very experienced folks here and look forward to learning
I didn't mean to convey I was at all unhappy with my G3c choice, just that I knew it wasn't the best at CC or for home defense but IMHO a pretty fair dual purpose tool at a very reasonable price.

Thanks Rust Collector…. I would have preferred to use my own name but did not see anyone that was doing so. Perhaps it isn’t the best idea on a firearms site anyway. I use that old gamer tag whenever I want to be anonymous which is pretty much never these days. I don’t mind people knowing who I am and don’t appreciate when others hide and become “keyboard warriors”. I don’t foresee that being an issue here and the older I get the more “real” I prefer to be. Anyway, the name is Craig and it is a pleasure to meet you.

Lovehappiness22, we are happy that you want to participate, but as with all internet communities, it may be wise to spectate for awhile to get a sense of the method of operation and who's who in the zoo. You have asked if people support the second amendment, which makes no sense because guns and the second amendment are the common interest we share. You have stated that you support 2A, which we should be able to assume by your joining THR. Then you seem to be preaching to the choir about rights and freedom. Please check out the THR primer in the general gun discussion section and proceed slowly for a long and mutually rewarding association.

ProfessorZ, welcome! The THR primer is a good thing to review. We hope you will enjoy your time here. We can neither confirm nor deny tales of early Glock.

Hello, I am new on this forum, I came to seek gunsmithing advice but found a lot more interesting threads and a good crowd of firearm enthusiasts. I lived in France, UK, Norway, Israel, Australia, Madagascar and Mauritius so I sampled a wide range of gun laws and had to adapt to each country, often having to sell my entire collection before starting again somewhere else. As a hobby, I collect, buy and sell militaria, mainly helmets, military knives and bayonets, I love vintage BP firearms from the 1880s but also modern firearms and I am also hunting where and when I can. I have a military & security background and was recently working for 8 years for Brinks where as part of wider functions, I also trained cash in transit and security guards in the use of firearms, so that was fun.

New Guy
Hello Ladies &Gentlemen,

Lurked for a bit and this looks like a pretty good resource. I am retired and in my mid 60s. I have enjoyed firearms for years and hunt big game and competed in shooting sports. CCW most days in theese times.

I like to camp, hike and fish. The wife and I are trying to decide what our next camp travel rig will be. Tough retirement problems.....

Greetings! I've lurked for years as well. Nearly 50, starting to get some time back now that my little kids aren't toddlers (I started late ;)) and have more detailed questions as I'm looking to possibly start target shooting and competing (22 LR). I shot IDPA for several years, been shooting since I was a kid, just time and money are my challenges for the last decade or so.

I was a gun show kid for a decade or more, too, working with my dad and eventually doing one city while he handled another while I was in college. Some fond memories and a pile of stories. But boy oh boy, did some weekends drag on when it was nice out and nobody was in the show! If you attended gun shows in Western PA or Northeaster/Eastern OH from the mid 80's through the mid 90's, you've likely seen me, met me, or bought something from me!

Another thing that prompted me to join was I've been helping him clean out the garage and basement storage areas from his business, so I'll have some components to sell (bullets and brass mostly) once I have enough posts... Seems to be a common rule among forums (days and post thresholds), which I totally understand in today's online world overrun by spam and scammers!

I also like hiking, and although I haven't been hunting in a long time I have some fond memories of that too, with dad and uncle.

Take care!

Hi, I'm Dylan.

I live in Australia, and don't own a gun, and I'm perfectly happy with that.

Just interested in reading what makes people tick and didn't want to be a total lurker.

For reasons unknown I no longer get notifications for new posts here. I'll have to get to the bottom of that. Meanwhile, welcome to Petra 308, MtnHiker, Regdor1999 and Dylan72! Thank you for checking in, and I hope you will find information here that you can use. By the same token, I am sure you have good experience to share and that helps all of us. Please hit the THR primer in the general gun discussion section when convenient, and find a few kindred spirits here.

Just joined up. Talking at you from western Virginia. Nice to meet y'all.
Welcome Bcguncoll. We are glad you found us and hope you will feel at home here. We try to be respectful and informative, keep the politics out of the mix, and learn from those who knows. Please hit THR Primer in the general gun discussion section, feel free to check out different sections and wade on in.
