Sorta kinda but not really new

Was a member a few years back, but forgot UN & PW :)banghead: ). Kept thinking I would find it again somewhere. Oh well.... Such is life. As I am sometimes accused of losing my head if it weren't attached. Been reading some of the discussions and find them quite interesting. Sorta like a coffee shop. Good discussion and a hot, full cup.

Have been a bit of a gun nut all my life. Notice I said 'gun nut' NOT 'nut with a gun". There is a subtle difference. firmly believe in the 2A and that it does enforce and preserve the rest. Like to give people a dose of 'inconvenient truth' when possible. See things pretty much black and white. Truth is truth and a half truth is a whole lie. I will rigorously defend your right to free speech even if I don't agree with your point of view, but remember it works 2 ways. BTW...burning the flag ain't freedom of speech! And no, I don't think anyone here thinks it is either!

Enough of my intro 2 cent ramble.

Hi Isildur. I have just returned to U.K. from Germany, where I have been hunting Reh and Pig. Please correct me if I am in error , but is it not so that anyone who holds a Jagdschein can have two hanguns in addition to hunting rifles and shotguns? I am sure that is what my hunting colleagues have told me.

Kindest regards, Roebuck.

Mhh I'm not that familiar with gun laws regarding hunting but something like that is definitely true. But this is one great exception. There are not many people here who own guns. Hunters do, well they have got the most rights regarding weapons I think, possibly because some politicians hunt themselves. "Marksmen" or whatever you call them(people shooting in a sports club like me-what's the correct/common English expression for that?) have strictly limited access to guns and then there are two groups of people left: law enforcement and criminals.
Estimates say that there are about 1Million legal and 2 Million illegal weapons in Germany; 1:0 for the criminals(nearly all crimes are committed with the 2Milion illegal weapons).
The vast majority of Germans is unarmed and many many Germans are pacifistic, oppose guns etc. .
In contrast to the US German conservatives oppose liberal gun laws as well as socialists and others do. The only political wing which has some supporters of a more liberal gun law, who believe in self-defense are the Liberals which are different from the US liberals I guess.

This may explain why I am here, the US seems to something like one of the last places on earth where a majority or at least huge part of the population still believes in the right and ability to protect yourself and others and that liberal gun-control is part of the solution not the problem.

Thanks for your reply Isildur. The term we use in UK for a shooter that engages in your discipline is just "Target Shooter". U.K. target shooters can only use rifles and black powder muzzle loading handguns. Our centre fire and rim fire handguns were confiscated in 1997, when the Government of the day banned them. Semi auto, non rimfire rifles were banned in 1989. I understand your disappointment in your situation in Germany regarding gun laws. In U.K. we have the most restrictive gun laws in Europe and no right of armed self defence. We can only use reasonable force in defending ourselves and family. Pepper sprays are not legal, nor are stun guns (I believe the last two items are legal in Germany though I think that they are only to be used in cases of dog attack. They are advertised in the Frankonia and Ketner catalogues. Also, in U.K., we are not permitted to carry a knife (except for a folding knife with a non locking blade less than two inches in length) unless we can prove we have a valid reason to do so (i.e. hunting/work/camping.) If you forget the knife is on your person and take it into a public place, an offence is committed. No defence. That means even a Leatherman Multi Tool is not allowed. Sad. It does nothing to deter the bad guys.

If you don't mind me asking, which area of Germany do you live in?

Roebuck.

Hi, I've been lurking for a while. I am a member of several other gun forums as well. This looks to be a good site. Thanks

Hello all,
I live in kern county, the last sane county of the communist peoples republic of california..I own Ruger 22 lr/mag single action, a J stevens single shot .22 lr, A ruger p94 9mm, a springfield 1911 a-1 black stainless full size .45 acp, remington .22 long rifle and and a 12 guage....soon to join the collection will be a glock model 38. I intend to submit legislation to my local representative to start regulating tire irons. These things are just to dangerous for the public to have without regulation......They are a tool that everyone should know how to use but not everyone has the common sense to use one....they are a tool that everyone should own in case of emergency but not everyone has the desire to fend for themselves.....and lastly they are very dangerous applied with the correct tactics. SOUNDS LIKE A PERFECT PROFILE MATCH TO THE ANTI-GUN NUTS DREAM.

new guy

Hi, I live in Southeast Pennsylvania and have recently found this page by accident. I would have joined up long ago, if I had known about it.

After reading many of the posts, I have found this site very informative and entertaining. I hope I may add to the information and entertainment in my own small way.

Hi all. I found this site through a link on another forum. I live in the great gun hating state of Massachusetts. I got my license for security work a few years ago, but I got hooked on shooting. I bought this one for carry as a security officer:

But these S+W revolvers are my real pride and joy:

I've only been shooting handguns, but I'm also saving for a .22 rifle for cheap plinking at longer ranges, probably either a Marling or Browning lever gun.

New Member

Hi All,

Im a new member to this site and wanted to say Hi, i mainly shoot with air rifles due to the current legistlation here in the UK, but travel now and again to other countries where i can get some good hunting in.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi.

Greetings, everyone. Callahan here. An employee of a Des Plaines, Il gun shop referred me here. Also on TFL. This site looks very similar. LOVE guns, politics, family, fantasy football, 60's-70's cars(Musclecars especially). Recovering liberal(Grew up in the 60's/70's with 60's parents. Mom somewhat of an activist! Still love her, though!) I can be found frequently in the editorial pages of local newspapers trying to defend the 2nd Amendment, gun issues, conservative causes, and generally trying to be a thorn in the side of liberalism. Love listening to Limbaugh, Hannity, Levin, Ingraham and other like minded here in Chi-town. I think I'll like it here.

A bit late, but i found the intro thread finally :D

i post as Partymember on Survivor's SKS Boards and the AKFiles, and as Jack Savage on Freesteader. I like this site :)

Hi, I'm spooky_t.
I'm a Viet Nam Vet - Air Force - and proud.
I've always been interested in firearms and how they work. I'm just now getting into reloading which is how I found this forum.
From what I've read so far, I'm gonna like it here. Alot of helpful, friendly people who don't flame you for asking embarassingly simple (to the more experienced people) questions. Thanks in advance for your patience. I'll probably be the one asking the most elementary questions ;0).
