Introducing myself

Hey everybody, this is the Kiwi (No I'm not from NZ). I'm 20, almost 21, and have been an avid outdoorsman all of my life due to my wonderful father who taught me all about the outdoors and it's assosiated pleasures. Living in Texas, I have done plenty of hunting, mostly whitetail deer but some waterfowl. Learned to shoot with my dad's single-shot remington .22 (handed down from my grandfather) and loved it. I got my first deer with my father's J C Higgins .30-06(bought at a Sears store in the 50s by my grandmother, !!the action was made by FN!!) I now have a Stevens 12-gauge pump, stevens .22 (clip-fed o_O), and a Savage .270. I am also planning to get a CHL and a pistol when I turn 21, cannot decide between a CZ-series semiauto for CCW or a .357 mag revolver for defense against the feral hogs that roam our deer lease(those things are MEAN).

Hello all. My name is Peter and I am from New Zealand - well, I am from here now. I migrated here from Southern Africa four years ago. I ran away from ever increasing gun control! Actually, it did play a part but I made the move for my kid's sakes mostly. I have had a rekindling of an old passion for guns and shooting. I now do mostly 22lr rifle club shooting. I am slowly regaining a lost skill and loving the challenge. I plan on getting into hunting as soon as I can.

Hi there! (Not actually *super* new ...)

However, a convergence of events:

a) A while ago -- months -- finally noticed noticed this sticky thread, having ignored it for several before that.

b) A few minutes ago, checking my profile to see if there'd been any discussion in the forums I was most recently reading / responding within, I saw that I'd had to that point 365 posts, and an average of 1 a day, making ... a year! :)

So I guess it's time to add to this thread ;)

Born and raised on the East Coast, but went to college in Texas, and have lived a number of other places besides in the intervening years, though I think the state I've moved to the most times has been Texas (4 times and counting). Now going to law school at Temple, in Philadelphia (motto: "The City that Glares"). Philadelphia presents as good an argument for an armed citizenry as any other.

I've learned a lot from this forum, and appreciate all the hard work of the administrators in providing it, as well as the work put into answers to perpetual newbies like me by the many more experienced members. Despite my current course of study, I know for a fact that many people here (and here I'm talking about the non-lawyers) grasp more about the law than I do or expect to anytime soon, esp. when it comes to firearms law, but brushing against their knowledge here has been a help to me in classes and in conversation.

My main complaint about THR: this forum has heightened my long-standing interest in all things gun-related, and in that way has cost me quite a bit of money, even in the mere year of exposure ;)

[EDIT: And on that last point, I've decided that if I waited past today, it would have been *more* than a year and therefore officially ridiculous, so I just ordered my first reloading press -- the Lee Classic Turret from Kempf's.)

Cheers!

timothy

New member Hello here

Shooting for about 4 years - from the trenches of MA. A little of everything from milsurp to current.

I have heard good things about this forum and thought I would join into the discussion.

Fodder here.

Hi everyone. I'm a reader who decided to become a talker here. I'm just another armed citizen, nothing special. My blog is Ride Fast & Shoot Straight. Feel free to drop in sometime. Bunch of my friends are regulars around here. I won't mention anyone and embarrass them. Heh.

Might as well.

Don't plan on posting much, but there's been some fine reading. Just waiting for some paperwork problems downtown to clear up before I can go and pick up my Bersa Thunder Ultra-Compact 9mm.

Hopefully won't feel the need to pick up anything else, because school and other hobbies drain my pocket already. :p

Hello, everyone. New member, and mostly interested in handguns, personal defense, RKBA issues and training. I enjoy IDPA style shooting (although I'm new and hardly an expert, actually novice is a more apt description). I generally carry an M&Pc 40, or my S&W 1911PD. My wife shoots an M&P 40 full size, and is just getting into shooting. I also have a beloved Glock 19. Anyway, I enjoy the posts I have read, and look forward to more in the future.

What's up. I'm just now really becoming interested in handguns (dealt with long guns in the past). Moving to VA in the fall and waiting until I get there to become a first-time owner.

Another Hello from Texas!

I am a Heavy Equipment Operator at a coal mine in Jewett, Texas. I also have an FFL 01 & 03. I've visited here a time or two and have decided that it is indeed time to take "The High Road". Thanks for having me and I hope to be able to contribute a little. If not, at least I am sure I will learn alot.

hi all well i weapons are in my blood as i am full blooded blackfoot indian, i own many fine firearms, and a few not so fine, in a world like ours with all the koo koos out there, i know i will never be a god bless his sole, a reganel denny thats the guy that was pulled from his truck and, beaten in the last L.A. riot, i grew up in montana on the silverwood rez where if you were not a good shot you went hungry ! i never missed a meal. i'm a survivalist and, a realist if something where to happen and, not just like a war over here, or some nut tring to shoot up the place, but like an earthquake or mother nature hard at work, i know me and mine will have enough to eat and drink if you think thats crazy ask the fine people of new orleans after the flood and, it was the wild wild west. the looters were not only looking for cash come ups but, with no food or water it became survival of the fitest or who had the biggest gun and how good you were. hope i didn't scare anyone ! like the great american club the boy scouts of america say allways be prepared and, like my grandfather told me a man cant kill you with his eyes allways watch his hands. A-ho, may Grandfather bless you all !

New-bee on board. Hope to contribute when the occasion and subject
are of interest.
Live in central Fla. That means i fish a lot (bass) and use plenty of sun-block.
Hunt in WV. The mountains are starting to look really big, that`s what my legs tell me anyway.

I'm Neil, I'm in central Florida, the Cocoa beach area. New to guns, but I'm in love with shooting.
400x30.jpg
My fiancé's Taurus 85. This is the only gun we own, but I'm about to get a Taurus 608. Both of us are lousy shots, but slowly learning.

Anyone know where a Central Floridian can do some outdoor shooting? I'm sick of blue generic bad guy targets, and I'm itchin' to shoot something with substance.

New guy checking in. Been shooting and hunting all my life. Known as Concealcarryny on some other boards I frequent.
